The Seahawks just pulled off an absolutely amazing last minute win over the Patriots

Geez, how does a team live down a whuppin like the Texans are getting?  Could they have really underestimated the Packers that much?  Pathetic is what it is.  Hats off to the Pack.  You guys may be around at the end yet.  The Texans stink on both sides of the ball.  Unbelievable.  They actually look naive out there.

Good for the Seahawks.  Keep it up.

Another GB touchdown.  Go to the fridge to get some cheese and look what happens.  To give credit where credit is due, Aaron Rodgers is terrific tonite.

Jeez, must be tough in Texas this week.   :duh: UT demolished, Texans next, and Dallas came up short (though they outplayed my Ravens).

This is not the game I was expecting from the Packers as they have looked rough on both sides of the ball until tonight.....Defense/Rodgers/Nelson/Jones all big game!

SEAHAWKS!

Wow!  That victory for your Hawks was a shocker but I'm happy to see an exciting young team play so well against a very good New England team!  Seahawks' fans have a lot to chear about and I clearly misjudged their chances earlier this year!  Congrats.

That was a strange week!  Atlanta almost lost, the Pack beat a tough Houston team on the road, the Jets demolished the Colts, the Giants smoked the Niners (a team many "experts" had as tops in the league), Miami beat St. Louis, the STEELERS lost to Tennesee!, and Detroit wound up winning a game they pretty much lost for most of the day!  Football is very interesting these days because there are no sure things.  I didn't play the "Pick em" game but if I did, I would have been well under 50%!  It's great to see young, unheralded teams beat the big guys!  Fun stuff. :thumb:

Looking at the latest power rankings, seven of the top ten teams who played yesterday lost!  The Bears didn't play so I did not count them in the ten.  Many teams lost to very low ranking teams and some even lost at home!  The Giants and the Packers will be in the top 5 next week, and the Seahawks will have to be bumped up!  The Steelers and Eagles will certainly drop, as will the Texans, Niners and Pats.  Also, Atlanta and Baltimore were very lucky to win those games.  Parity is alive and well these days in the NFL!

Pats fan here, but I like that Seattle QB.  That guy was good!  I seemed to miss seeing him in college, so quite a revelation.

Pats haven't been putting away teams when they have the chance.  Could be a long season, and with no hockey could be a lousy winter.

This is a strange year. It would not surprise me to see the Pats and the Niners smoke teams next week.  Anything is possible this year.  Even Cleveland won last week. Strange.

Seattle is gonna get tested tonite.  I think their defense (you gotta luv their hustle) will make some plays but think there offense may fall short.  I'd love to see Seattle win but can't think they will.  Still, that's who I will be pulling for.  Giants and Redskins this weekend.  Another good one right there.  Can the Texans bounce back?  Too bad Ray Lewis is gone for the season for Ravens fans but Suggs will play, I think.

The Seattle/San Fran matchup sure wasn't much of a game.  Alex Smith looked pretty pedestrian tho the Seattle rookie QB looks like a comer.  Both teams have excellent RB's.

San Fran looked to be the much better team,,, but the score didn't reflect it. Overall, a boring game but the fact the low score was so close make it worth watching (especially seeing how St Louis was blowing out San Fran in the NL Championship series for a 3-1 lead).

Cheers,

The boring game was not the story, the story was the decision by Jim Harbaugh to forgo the penalty and take two points off of the score.  Since the point spread was bouncing around 7 to 7.5 points and the final score was 13-6 instead of 15-6, millions, perhaps billions of dollars shifted in the betting world.  ESPN said it could be a bigger swing than the Seattle/Green Bay Fakeception which, quoting ESPN, "The worldwide swing in bets for that game, including online and overseas sports books, was estimated at as little as $150 million and as much as $1 billion."  I've no clue which is a closer estimate, but a big impact regardless.

As an aside to the above I think Harbaugh make the correct, safe decision.  Taking a knee twice vs receiving a punt is a no brainer and he could care less about the betters.

Well Letitroll98, I'm not a gambling man so there was no story of interest there for me personally during the game but you bringing it to light now is. I know a lot of guys that would be rip roaring pissed off Monday night.

Thanks for bringing that most interesting point to light.  :thumb:

Cheers,
Robin

I don't bet on football either, it's the biggest chump bet in the gambling world, even worse than the daily lottery.  However I follow the lines and predictors to pick my non-betting pool which we've had going for over 10 years now.  Last week was a disaster for favorites with eight upsets, and one semi-upset on Monday night (it was a pick'em on most books with some giving Denver a point).

This week is another tough one with a lot of close games, and a lot of shaky favorites.  Dallas-Carolina, Cleveland-Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh-Cincinnati all one point games.  And the N.Y. Giants, Minnesota, New Orleans, Buffalo, Oakland, and to some degree Chicago all being very questionable favorites.  A nightmare for betters, but should be a lot of fun for pure fans.
