From my dad:

I'll bet ya money, marbles or chalk.

Meaner 'en Hogans goat.

You couldn't find your own butt with both hands.

Cheap at half the price.

You look like a monkey tryin' to f%@k a football.

We just lost him May 24th, there were dozens more, I can't recall them all right now.

My mother always told me that "Nothing is easy," meaning whatever you try to do there's going to be a problem in one way or another. I've found this to be true 9 times out of 10.

My father's advice: "Never draw to an inside straight." Cant't tell if he was right. I don't play poker.

My brother's cynical advice: "Screw them all except six, and save those for pall-bearers." I'm taking no chances he might have been right. I plan to be cremated.

My advice: When, in response to something you've said or done, your wife says emphatically, "Fine," you can be completely certain that absolutely nothing is fine, so run, duck, or apologize.

A friend of mine at work came up with this and it always made me think.

"I don't understand everything I know about that"

My dad once told me "being retired from my job and being at home is like having two wives".

When my dad was going out we'd ask where he was going. His reply, "I'm going to see a man about a horse."  :dunno:

When I was a youngster and I desperately wanted a toy or a bike I was always told "All good things come to those who wait" - I used to hate that saying!

Now it comes in handy :thumb:

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

When I was a kid, I watched the behavior of girls and came to the conclusion that they were false and dangerous.
Well now that I am old, I see that it was true.
