Sayings and Truths we knew as kids
« on: 5 Jul 2012, 10:36 am »
Hi Folks

I had my grandson over on Canada day (he is 4) and he saw a spider and was going to step on it when I said....  NO - if you do that it will rain  :nono:

Anyway it reminded me of all the sayings we as children grew up with - thought it might be fun to list some.

Step on a crack break your mothers back  :thumb:

It has to be spoken with a Mexican accent to come across right.

I was trying remember something from when I was a kid but couldn't remember anything that I wasn't sure that I hadn't made up myself.

My grandfather said quite often:

"You've never been wrong in all your life, and now your right!"

My Dad being a cop always said to me when something went wrong:

"Accidents just don't happen, they are caused".

Sure defeated any hope of blaming things on chance and bad luck. :?

Speaking of grandfather, mine, an accomplished bootlegger and outlaw in the old English sense, used to say to me, "If you're going to commit a crime, do it by yourself. You ain't going rat yourself out."

I always liked the following

"It's just like a dog trying to screw a football, lots of activity and no end  result"

As I told my son when he started his electrician apprenticeship

"don't listen to everything they tell you son, but then again don't throw none away"

Best advice I've ever gotten in my entire life.

My father told me "All women are crazy son, all of them even your mother, it's important for you to understand this so that you don't think that you're crazy".
