Don't do what I do.
Do what I tell you to do !

OH My! How could I have forgotten these two. The Nuns used them over and over. "Idle hands are the Devil's workshop", and of course, "A word to the wise should be sufficient."

    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

"It's better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you're an idiot than open your mouth and remove all doubt."

Guess I just ignored that bit of advice yet again.

My grandfather shaking his head in amazement and walking away from my father:
"To be young and dumb."

My father shaking his head and uttering under his breath in response:
"To be old and senile."

When I was about 13, my father told me to shoot him if he ever turned into his father.  I haven't had the heart to pull the trigger.

This is supposed to be the line:

"I wish I knew then what I know now"

But I like this one better:

"I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then"  :thumb:

My Dad used to say " Youth is a wonderful thing, too bad it is wasted on the young".

Good things come to those who wait....as  long as those who wait, work like hell while they wait"

My parents were scientifically illiterate so I grew up hearing lots of "truths" that turned out to be complete nonsense.  You guys were lucky...

What does science have to do with sayings and "truths?"

What about this?

Any negative comment about food was greeted with:
"Someday you will eat shit and like it"
Sorry that is all i got for wisdom from my Mother.. I must have heard that a hundred times..

When i was 22 my Father did once ask me "Are you getting any" as we sat waiting for Mom to get out of church. (i was on vacation, visiting them) I did not respond.
That was it for my Father.
(When i was maybe 10 years old, i was going to sell a toy to a friend. She told me she had asked her dad, and he said to offer me just half. i was thunderstruck, not about the money, but that she actually spoke with her father. I NEVER forgot that..it was such a shock.)

Some kids are luckier, with good parents ... than others.
