Looks like my father may have shuttled him around to more than a few engagements (South Pacific). Dad was a swabbie and ran the landing crafts when they hit the islands. Back on board ship he was a gunners mate.

Khan? If we're going that far back, how about King Leonidas. He stood off the Persian empire with 300 Spartans, and few Thespians and Thebians and saved western civilization. Most were killed. I'd say those fellas were tough.
