I thought, at least read VPI had top notch Cust support. Even on a discontinued product geeze! Not cool But at least MD took care of you. They seemed to have a bit of problems with that pivoted arm from the beginning.
Their lineup now is somewhat weird $$ wise now. The Traveler must have sold well I would think at the price.  Forget that Nomad thingy.

.

What I'd love to see is a Fozgometer rental program. They're not cheap and its normally only needed when you set up a new table or change cartridges.

why not use a Radio Shack sound meter? I f you have the test lp, the meter should read the sound just like when calibrating speakers with test tones.

Well the young man was very polite, and I could have pushed the issue more, but there was a little air of condescending attitude when I asked about any solution other than shipping it back.  His reply of "Oh, we haven't made those since 2014" rubbed me the wrong way a bit so I just said thanks, goodbye.  Kinda hinting that if I didn't have a current model I don't get factory support and I need to talk to the dealer.  Now of course directing customers to the dealer for service problems is quite likely company policy and I wasn't upset, just that I was expecting the above and beyond service I'd heard about.  When I didn't get it I was absent that warm and fuzzy feeling I anticipated, that's all.

At Music Direct I got an older gentleman that seemed new at the job, taking a little bit of time to complete everything, but got everything right and walked me efficiently through the process.  So I got my warm and fuzzy in the end, to be completed if I get a working table.  So it's all good.

I changed my mind on the Traveler, not too impressed when I first heard one at their debut, then a second listen at the last Capfest made the difference.  It was closer to the Scout than further from it, much closer than the $1200 price difference.  Thus IME the V2 is better sounding than either V1 or V1.1, but I could be wrong.  The arm is suppose to have ball bearings replacing the needle bearings, touted as more robust.  Go figure.

It's called the Counterintuitive. It's $50 and money very well spent if you have a VPI table. Also helps with VTF. Not sure how well it works on the cheaper "plug and play" VPIs. Ask a dealer if you have one of those models.

It is my experience that the Fozgometer is not good enough. The way to go is the Feikert Adjust+ software.
Not cheap but it can get you perfect. The Foz is not close enough.

There is no such thing as perfect.

There is when it comes to azimuth. Having used both the Foz and the Feikert I can assure you that my cartridges are dead on perfect phase angle.

I haven't had this turntable a week and the music nut in me has returned.  After buying thousands of CDs over the years, buying music had kind of lost it's luster in these days of flac files and streaming.  After setting up the table, I only had one album in the house, Meshell Ndegeocello - Comet Come To Me.  I bought it last year when I first considered getting back into vinyl. Within in minutes, I was online trying to purchase my favorites of this years Grammy nominees;

  • Alabama Shakes - Sound & Color (180G Black Vinyl)
  • Hiatus Kaiyote - Choose Your Weapon (180G Blue Vinyl)
  • D'Angelo & The Vanguard - Black Messiah

Now I am considering upgrading the Ortofon 2M Red that is installed and deciding whether or not to order the VPI HRX Clamp.

I noticed you didn't mention whether or not it sounds better than your digital. Good.
I run both analog and digital, and for the most part analog is not about better or worse but it just seems to be a more enjoyable way for me to enjoy my system.

Ha ha, welcome to vinyl nervosa.  It's really a lot of fun isn't it.  I pulled out my old vinyl accessories and it was two shipping boxes full.  Of course that includes my Nitty Gritty record cleaner and supplies.  I also found about 6 or seven cartridges I forgot I had, 10 or 12 alignment protractors, couple of VTF gauges, various isolation devises and spikes, a block of bees wax, well, you get the idea.
