I still wonder if something is lost going from the m-165x to a pair of m-130/16's.

The low sensitivity is lost as it moves from 85db to 91db.

Will that sub live happily in such a small space and does it perform well in the 60-120hz range?

It only needs 1.5 cubic feet of air space and can cover from 120Hz down to the upper teens very well.

Is it wishful thinking to imagine this design might give me a compact-ish speaker that would give me strong response down low enough to go subless for 2 channel and just fire up the mfw-15 for movies?

The N3 model (pictured in that other thread) will hit a -3db of 40Hz and can handle your music pretty well without needing a sub. You can then fire up the MFW-15 for movies...

If you go the route the Eargasm is suggesting though, you may never turn the MFW on again. The servo sub will play lower, is tighter, cleaner, and much faster.

I can't find where Danny was talking about if you would be able to run this with one amp using the SW-12-08 or if that would mess up the feedback system and you should run two amps for the bass box concept.
Anyone remember?

I don't remember the reasoning but you need one amp per speaker.

I just finished this pair of Neo-2X's in Tiger Oak for a customer who had Danny drop ship the parts kit to me.  This pair has all of the upgrades & sounds pretty darn good at first listen right now.  I burned in the mid/bass drivers @ FS for several days on my frequency generator & I'm sure that they will sound even better after the crossovers & ribbon tweeters have had some juice running through them.

If any other members are interested, I have a couple of Maple pairs and another Oak pair available.  If you want to build them yourself, you can just get the finished cabinets from me.  They are cut out & routed and are ready to drop in the drivers.  I also offer fully assembled pairs in your choice of other wood finishes.

Thanks,  Fritz

BTW-  These speakers look much better in person.  This picture didn't come out very good due to bad lighting (outside at dusk).  I'm a speaker builder, not a photographer!  I will try to get some better shots later...

This set of N2X is available for sale here if anyone is interested.

Deleted my comment, as I obviously misunderstood something about somebody misunderstanding someone else, who when I defended him gave me the finger, which I still don't understand.

So, sorry to all, and I'm going to go have a 6th cup of coffee.

Thanks for accepting mine.  :thumb:  I should have read the posts more closely instead of just jumping to conclusions. Then again at 4am in the morning & getting ready to go to bed, I should probably refrain from posting all together.
