If a Peart fan can link a YouTube solo to me that will blow me away, I'd appreciate it.

I like a lot of drummers, but usually they cannot be isolated from the music itself. If it's just solo drums then Terry Bozzio makes some really interesting compositions (and facial expressions!).
jackman- think of it like this, each drum sounds one note, one tone where as a six string guitar has 6 strings and however many frets so if its say 20 frets thats 120 different sounds from one guitar (not counting possible combinations of strings for now), we as drummers are only limited by stage space...LOL......I used to have one cymbal set up all the time for one note I played once during a performance. Same with guys tom-toms etc...they may only hit the little 8" drum once but they need that sound so they hang that drum for that performance...follow me....???
How could I have forgotten. If Kruppa is the grandfather, then Chick Webb is the great grandfather. Even Kruppa acknowledged this.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7yGiTxAyRQ
Awesome Dawson says it all!
PS - I forgot to mention Nicko McBrain of Iron Maiden. Check out this guys rolls with a single bass drum. How the heck does he do that???
Art Blakey! Listen to his drumming on "Night in Tunisia" from CD One night at Birdland.
