Can an audiophile be happily married ?
« on: 18 May 2011, 12:56 am »
I was just putting up a very nice all BRYSTON system for a good friend and I was in charge to make the speakers and the sub.But everything went to hell when his wife find out and right now I am bigest enemy for her because I make her husband to spend a lot of money on audio. He just called me with a very upset voice that it is over and we cannot do it.I asked him Why? And he told me because his wife find out about it.I asked him again,Did you tell her about this or no? And he said no.  :o
I told him,but you do not think she would see it any way.He said that he was going to hide it for now.  :duh:
How the hell you can hide this?
6BSST2,BCD-1,BP26,10B SUB and a pair speakers and a sub.

Everyone knows you are supposed to buy her a car first.
Now it's too late.

I guess I'm fortunate. My wife doesn't know one black component from another.

I say you talk to her.  There are people who spend their money and go to a bar every night or golf widows where they go off on golf trips with their buddies.  What could be nicer than a hobby where the significant other spends time at home so he can spend more time with her.

Well, I can't say since I'm single, but what I can say is that his wife is being a bitch.

I've been married twice and not now so only take so much :green:  Seriously, I have not talked to the first in years and the second once after 15+ years (I was a child groom ) but my 2nd ex did admit in an E-Mail she appreciated my toys.  And I also did have that talk when we were married.  One time I even brought her to the store when I was going to upgrade speakers and I left her alone to see if she could hear the difference and she did and I got them.  I do think the fact it was lots of money and done behind the back is the culprit here.  Would have been better to discuss it ahead of time.  Learning things after the fact many times is not good.

James

Well, I don't tolerate abuse and harassment. She's gotta be more tolerant and be more willing to compromise instead of being the "boss." But yeah, I'm not interested in getting married. It's an institution, and you have to be crazy to be in one. No offense to those that are married, of course. Just my opinion here.

Well I have been married to my wife for 37 years and can say a mutual respect for those things that make each of us happy in our own way works for us  :thumb::thumb:

To the OP I want to say that your client is a complete and utter imbecile. What was he thinking trying to make a major purchase of any kind without his SOs explicit understanding that it was going to happen? That to me indicates a deep seated problem in the relationship. If my wife pulled up with a brand new car without a lot of feedback and an agreement from me I would be furious. This guys wife is in the right, he should be ashamed of himself.

You have clearly never met my darling of 38 years.  Sometimes, forgiveness is more of a negotiated truce.
