Bryston and Verity Audio speakers

Detail and musicality. Not overly detailed.
Here is a review of the Bryston 28B SST and the Verity Audio Parsifal

Verity is known to quite possibly have the best midrange available (and the most linear top to bottom). The 28B's took advantage of this...from the review: "But here is what I can tell you, the mid-range produced through the Bryston 28B SSTs is as liquid, smooth, lacking in grainy digital artifacts, and as insightful into the soul of the music as I have ever heard. Wow, nice, but way too expensive for me.

The Finn's are $6000 and the Rienzi's are $8900. And you don't lose any of the Verity sound which is consistent through the line.  8)

Re: B&W 802D with Bryston 4BSST?
Dear Everyone,

Thank you for the advice.  A local B&W dealer has a pair of demo 802D that I am considering.  Has anyone used Bryston equipment with B&W Speakers?  They have a lot that I enjoy in a speaker such as first order crossovers and very inert cabinets made from 36mm hardwood plys!  The only thing I don't like is the port for the bass.  I am very sensitive to port noise and tend to prefer an acousitc suspension or passive radiator based speaker.

Any thoughts on the 802D?

Cheers,

John

802D/4BSST is my favourite combination, but I had to settle down for B&W 803/9BSST because of the price diference. I added than the REL sub as more bass was needed for 2 chl.
802D will not have this problem, but it is a matter of choice and I recomend you to audition them using your own test CDs... You will also need a good source/DAC - I am using now a Musical Fidelity A5 CD player but if you are looking at 802D than I would definitely try the Bryston DAC...
Cheers,
Marius

How about a nice pair of Steampunk Speakers?

$1,850 (USD) and you can take them home... Hmmm

I received an excellent deal on a lightly (100 hrs) demo pair of 802D in natural cherry finish with full manufacturer's warranty from an excellent store in the New England area.  I can not wait to have these speakers in my system; delivery is schdeuled for this Saturday.  Should be a reference system for many years to come with a BP25, 4B SST2, BDA-1 on the front end.    :thumb:

Cheers,

John

Congrats

Thanks for asking. Well, I am going to audition 2 different Dynaudio models (Focus 360 and Contour S 5.4) in the near future. Then, I'll check out what CES has to offer. That's basically it.

This will take time. I don't wanna rush into things. That's a bad move, imo.

I will post pictures once they are available; might be a couple of weeks.

Cool. Those are good speakers. I would dig seein' them.

I agree. Take your time and audition, audition, and audition. Make sure to keep us posted. You're a 2-Channel guy, right?

I'm going to try to make it back to Vegas for the CES. Hopefully, I can convince my manager that I need to have a meeting with one of our clients out there so I can get work to cover the flight.

Cool. Thank you. Exactly. I will. Yes I am. The speakers have to disappear when listening. That means the sound appears not to come from the speakers themselves, but outside of them. Of course this depends on the recording and other factors such as the room.

I bought both amps lightly used about 7 years back.  I had the 6BSST for several months before the 14BSST.  At the time my main speakers were Thiel 7.2s.  I now have the 6BSST on the center and rears.  The sound was smooth with the 6BSST.  I drove a couple of hours (to meet up for the amp ) and the guy I bought it from said it was similar in sonic character to very expensive tube monoblocks he had (forgot the model).  When I put the 14BSST in it was a bit smoother and more relaxed and the bass was noticeably better.   I use 2 Rel Storm III subs for the front channels.  When I had a friend come over and listen (and help move it into place) he commented about the highs being better and thought I had the subs on when they were not.  The subs added (crossed over at 22HZ) but were not needed as badly on many things as with the 6BSST.

I thought you where a Lynn guy...

It must be those proprietary woofers and tweeters that make her look and sound good :thumb: and have that synergy with Bryston
