Please dont take this the wrong way BUT "the cost of "NEW" pmc speakers is a joke!
Used prices are high enough but new is just way tooooo much.
If you are going to use a sub is one style of speaker and if you are not would be another.I love the PMC sound and all but wow..$$$$$$$$$

For what you spend, they can't be beat. Although, if I had the extra money I would definetly buy me a pair of PMC's.

The sst series can make the top end t edgy. It does smooth out once you crank it though....

Hi,

"If you can afford 3 feet of placement of the front wall then the s8 would be overall better performers especially in the bass region and they go for 8k".

Where did this information for distance from the wall come from, might improve my stereo/theatre sound system??? :thumb:

Ciao,

B&W 802D with Bryston 4BSST?
Dear Everyone,

Thank you for the advice.  A local B&W dealer has a pair of demo 802D that I am considering.  Has anyone used Bryston equipment with B&W Speakers?  They have a lot that I enjoy in a speaker such as first order crossovers and very inert cabinets made from 36mm hardwood plys!  The only thing I don't like is the port for the bass.  I am very sensitive to port noise and tend to prefer an acousitc suspension or passive radiator based speaker.

Any thoughts on the 802D?

Cheers,

John

I believe there are foam plugs for the ports. Don't quote me on that. From what I've heard, B&W and Bryston is a ok match. I would take your Bryston stuff down to the dealer if the dealer doesn't carry Bryston. What is the price they're selling at? Finally, let your ears be the judge!

The dealer is asking 25% off the current retail price of $14K which IMO is a bit high depending on how old the demo speakers are.  I believe that when the 802D first came out the retail price was $12K.  The dealer also sells Bryston great so I can get a good idea on what they sound like together.

Cheers,

John

Yeah, it is a bit high. That's cool that they have Bryston. Well, I guess go down there and see and hear for yourself...
