I am not sure what they are - but I would like a pair of them :D

Be well...

They look like Avant Gardes

My Back Yard !
I'd love to have a another 4b to drive my speakers around the Pool !

Avantegarde speakers are high efficiency horns.
They are meant to be driven by beautiful SET  tube amps not DJ amps.

Avantgardes with Bryston gear would make your ears bleed. And that is the truth, ask anyone who knows what Avantgardes are.

That's a pretty bold statement. Do you own a Bryston?

I didn't know Brystons were DJ amps.  I thought they were just very high quality solid state amplifiers that could be used in a variety of applications, including stereo or multichannel home audio, studio monitoring, theatres and other commercial building venues.

What area of medicine do you work in?

Yes, Bryston is Pro Audio gear not High End, just ask anyone.
And yes I have heard Bryston many times. I wish more DJ's would use Bryston gear, it is alot better than most of the crap they use to make our ears cringe.

And it is obvious to me if you think that Avantgarde speakers would be a good match with Bryston amps that you have no idea about synergy, or for that matter much about high end audio.

Avantegarde speakers are very difficult speakers to setup correctly, they also require an appropriate room. If these parameters are met they could make you cry. Solid State and horns is usually a no no. Maybe some Pass First Watts might work OK, but the brutish force of a Bryston is not neccesary here, a deft hand is all that is required. And no degree in medicine is required, just normal hearing.

Educate me. What is the difference between Pro Audio and High End Audio?

Educate me. What is the difference between Pro Audio and High End Audio?

Pro Audio doesn't mean anything. It can be a pair of Auratones powered by a Hafler or PMCs powered by Bryston or a hideous compressor doing the "loudness" thing or an extraordinary recording or a jamaican "sound system". In the end it is "whatever gets the job done".

High End Audio is when you spend on cables more than a recording studio does on all their equipment.

Hey man, who do think you are coming in our house and telling us what Bryston is? Huh?

doctorno

Pro audio is commercially driven, high end is home based.

So you have a DJ business, you buy some DJ amps, Crown, Parasound, Bryston

So you are a audiophile, you buy some high end amps Conrad Johnson, Pass, Audio Research, Symphonic Line, etc
then we get to tubes, which we won't get into because I guess Bryston doesn't make tube gear so you guys probably never heard any.

I would say the difference between high end and pro is the subtlties.
Audiophiles look for the subtle things in music and how it is produced. In fact very subtle things mean alot to audiophiles.
Pro audio gets the job done, it needs to be powerful, efficient, well built to withstand the rigors of commercial abuse(ever wonder why so many pro guys like Bryston with the 20 year warrantee?)
Pro does not need to be built to deliver subtlies. How many drunk people at a wedding give a shit how good the "Chicken Dance" sounds when they had 8 screwdrivers in them?

Not trying to knock you guys, but you guys go around bragging to the world on a forum devoted to high end audio. You guys should have your own fan club  as part of the Bryston website. Bryston makes a ton of money on you guys, let them setup a website for you guys so you can all slap yourselves on your backs till your silly. And leave the high end stuff to the websites that matter, and the join the rest of us when you grow up.

This circle jerk has got to stop, the flow of semen is choking this site.

I would take a Hafler over a Bryston any day.
And you guys may not be able to hear the differences between cables.
In the right system you would.

And yes spending that much on cables is silly...and stupid...we agree on one thing

Ahhh. Okay. It all makes sense now.  :thumb: Thanks for the enlightenment. We're all fools here at Bryston. I'm glad I'm on the same tall pedestal as you now.

Wow....so now that you've managed to rub two sticks together to make fire, you decide to come out of the cave??

There's a problem though. Since all the available recordings are made using "Pro" equipment, which doesn't "deliver subtleties", then where is the "High End" reproducing these "subtleties" from?
