"her"... how do you know your Vac is a she?

As far as comparing the two,I'll give the Vac or me a little time for me to get use to her.
I'm not trying to pay attention to her,but the stage is really deep.
On some recordings the kick has a nice thwack with tones of the drumshell(sounds real good).
Cymbals have a really nice shimmer to them.
Until she or I settle down,I'm just going to let her do her thing and then swap them around.
I think I'm into percussion :o.There's lots going on for sure, hopefully not in my mind .

Thanks for the inside picts.I knew I had seen them somewhere.
Read the review also(again and again)as a few others.
Seems Vac doesn't advertise alot like alot of others do.

Whew, am I ever happy to hear that so-called inanimate objects talk to you as I was getting somewhat worried for a little while, it is a regular gabfest in my house. My audio gear is most polite as it normally asks me to come over and turn it on and now and then, requests a particular CD it would like to hear. The stupid toaster however is a different storey and is extremely rude. I would enjoy taking the axe to it, but the axe doesn't want to get involved.

 :duh:

Be well...

Welcome to a whole new realm of pre amplification! It will make you hear things from your Bryston power amplifiers you have never heard before...
I would LOVE to hear my Sovereign next to your VAC!

That's why I'm trying very hard not to listen to it as that's what been going on.
So far she's been opening up some musical doors that are very revealing.
Somebody mentioned it was like looking out a big picture window and then you actually get to step outside.
Impressed is an understatement so far as I'm sure I have only opened the door partway :thumb:.

Here's what I did: Take one of your favorite well recorded CD's. Eliminate all kids, dogs and other noise makers from the listening room. Sit down and take the time to LISTEN and absorb this CD at least twice, and make sure you pay attention to the small details like tone, clarity, placing etc.
Now put this CD away.
One month from now, do the same. (Provided your new amp got quite some playing time, even just from radio or such)

I did this with my fav CD: Exciter by Depeche mode.
It is now 7 months since my Sovereign arrived in its new home, and I am still in awe...

Hi Dave

Heard them yesterday......had a friend help me out, lent me some cables.

I was shocked at the bass slam. The aerials really go deep and hit hard and fast.
Spec wise and true to form they do indeed go deeper than the B&W's.
Very uniform sound from top to bottom.

The base cabinets were made in Denmark and are better than what you get on the B&W's.
And are more solid than any speaker cab I've come across.Very inert.

Fantastic speakers.

Cool. :thumb:

Halide Bridge USB to SPDIF converter.   Any folks on the forum using one of these?  Got a good deal on a S/H Halide Bridge and decided to give it a try in my system.  See the second link below in particular for a review that used the Halide Bridge with the BDA-1.

I have the Halide Design Bridge in my system. I use it to connect my MacBook Pro to the Meridian 861 v6.  I use iTunes with Pure Music 1.8 and I find the results very good.

Gary,
Thanks for the reply.  I look forward to having some time this weekend for some careful and relaxed listening with the Halide Bridge.  Did you try other USB to SPDIF converters before landing on the Bridge?

Based on everything I have read, I am excited to audition the BDP-1.  But, for the short run, adding something like Halide Bridge to my existing system was far more cost effective.  Do you own a BDP-1?

What kind of system are you running?  I'd love to see the details.

Christmas once again! One could become extremely lazy with this. Queue up as many albums as you want, and never leave your chair.

Tell me about it, I have just lost the last three and a half hours without noticing listening to the BDP, I am beginning to wonder how I ever managed without it.

Congratulations
