US had so many damn chances! I dunno what went wrong in that final second in front of the net! They should've won this game!! It should not have gone till extra time! I hated that they started so damn slow and were disorganised in the first half, and then played great in the second. Why can't they play in a sustained manner through out?? They got lucky against algeria, but to expect the same every game is Look at what happened to italy. Through out the tournament, they played only about 20 mins of great soccer, and that too in their last match. That stupid goal they gave away to slovakia made sure that they were knocked out!This is the world cup knock out stage ... play every minute like your life depended on it! Do not wait and play catch up.
Robin - Teams that perpetually need to play catch up are not ready for prime time. They may get there by accident but they haven't got what it takes to carry the day. If the U.S. had scored on their chances the way Ghana did, there wouldn't have been any over time period. They would have won it about 6-1.Several times during these World Cup games I've heard the announcers refer to composure. Ghana showed that better than we did. The U.S. might just lead all other teams in missed opportunities.
Koreans dominated for final 10 minutes of the 1st half and 20 of the second half...then the Uruguayans came back. I am betting the house for the next match on the Ghanians. They are faster and more consistently accurate than the Uruguayans.
Sorry about the USA team. Brazil team surely is not good too, as proved the last game(with Portugal).
Hm...don't know about that...that was #1 vs #3 in world ranking, so, that's why they didn't look that dominant!
They didn't play well in the 1st or 2nd half. That goal was from a penalty kick by Donovan which he narrowly missed. Ghana was a better team, they handled the ball much better and hardly lost the ball to the U.S. whether they were on the offensive or defensive. The U.S. needs a lot more time to mature. I am glad in some ways that the last qualifying African country from their continent made it. Ghana needed that. In fact, the U.S. lost to Ghana in the last World Cup as well.Anand.
True .. watching that game made me so mad that i'm switching my loyalty to argentina! I was expecting that the two countries would atleast play for pride (they are almost assured to go through). But both were very defensive, lacked intent, no creativity, nothing! Go Messi!!

After watching England robbed of an obvious goal and seeing an obvious offside overlooked to give Argentina a goal, I have concluded that the World Cup is not about how the players play as much as how the ref's decide to call the game. I have seen very uneven foul calling and cards given. I've seen bad flops awarded and others carded. There's no telling what they'll come up with next.

Those are pretty solid picks, but the last one is pretty iffy to me. Portugal could pull that one out. I can't pull for them at all though after seeing Renaldo's dishonest flopping and embellishing. How embarrassing...
