I hardly think Micheal Timmins needs a discount.

I absolutely agree! I mean, really? Come on now.

What if a purchased celebrity spews forth to the mob…

“I only listen to my music on Krell 600e mono-blocks - the CAST is simply awesome.”

Do I immediately kick my 28s to the curb and race out and purchase the 600e mono-blocks? Please

:o :!:

My wife just got in from work and I showed her this thread on the Cowboy Junkies - she is the country fan in the house and she told me that she knows of this band. She was reading one of my posts, turned to me and said, "OK - buy the Krell stuff but I want these for my room" pointing at the 28s."

:o :!:

I have created a monster :duh: She really enjoys her country music :D

 Perhaps there is an endorsement somewhere in here for ethier Bryston or Krell - I must get my agent to inquire for me

Count me in werd - I might require another pair of 28s - I am going to also need a deal

I am currently working on my speach and practicing in front of the mirror...

"Greetings you mindless plebes, my name is Laundrew and I am here to endorse [insert product name here] because I really, really, really like it and it works really, really, really good (nods head up and down while displays cheesy smile) and you should go out and buy 2 or 3 of them because they will pay me more money if you do. Smiles once more at the mob, gives them a royal wave and screams, 'I love you all'."

I think that I must work on this a little more….

Gee's you guys are a tough bunch.
The PR and word of mouth on this kind of purchase is excellent for a company like Bryston :D

james

That's true...as far as I'm concerned, it was a bit of very dry humor on my part.

James, eventually this worked the other way round. Instead of the cowboys endorsing Bryston, now you raised my interest in their music.  :nono:

Maybe it's just the mp3/samples quality but.... I'm comparing their debut album Trinity Sessions to Trinity Revisited.... and for some very unexplained reason I like the sound on the first one more? It's more natural? what's up here? we have an amateur $250 budget recording vs. a "professional" one and the first one wins????? in mono????? Can someone who has the CDs comment?

Margo's voice is something special indeed.

I'd say good, not excellent. Excellent would be having Steve Hoffman rave about using [insert name of gear here]. Like some years ago, when he did w/ Wavac amps. Mr. Timmins is known for being a musician, so, him talking about a piece of kit that muso's exclusively use: instrument, etc. would be more appropriate.

(and)

when I was in The Biz, I used to see a lot of musicians trying to pick up free-bees. Sorry, I don't cut a lot of slack for multi-millionaires that can afford anything they want, while I had to work as ye ol' typical wage-slave.

Hi Mike,

So something like this would be more applicable:

PRESS RELEASE

BOSTON PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA CONDUCTOR BENJAMIN ZANDER SELECTS BRYSTON/PMC 5.1-CHANNEL REFERENCE PLAYBACK SYSTEM

Peterborough, Ontario March, 2009—Bryston (www.bryston.com) has announced that world-famous conductor Benjamin Zander (Boston Philharmonic Orchestra) has chosen Bryston-powered PMC speakers for his playback studio. "I have found it at last: The Perfect Sound!" said Zander.

The reference surround-sound system was designed by Joe Less from JL AV Design, who worked closely with the famed conductor to ensure the highest playback quality. JL AV Design also supplied and installed the system components. Zander was supplied with a pair of PMC MB2-XBD-Active loudspeakers for the left and right channels, plus an MB2-Active Center, all of which are powered by PMC-Bryston Active amplifiers and crossovers. For surround channels, Joe Less chose a pair of PMC Wafer 2™ On-wall flat-panel loudspeakers powered by a Bryston SP2 surround amplifier/processor.

Zander commented on the realism and transparency achieved with his new Bryston/PMC ultra-precision monitoring system: "Warmth, precision, power, depth and, above all, truth. Ah, there's the rub! If the performance or the recording has the slightest flaw there is nothing to hide it. I close my eyes, and think I am in the ideal seat in the greatest concert hall in the world. Every detail, from the gentle swish of a cymbal to the complex texture of a Mahlerian orchestra, is realized with perfect clarity. I thought I had heard everything that audio could do, but this takes us to another level."

With his own orchestra and as a guest conductor with orchestras around the world, Benjamin Zander has become known as a musical maverick. His recordings with London's Philharmonia are some of the best regarded CDs of the modern era, winning prizes and selling in the hundreds of thousands. Of his Telarc recording of Mahler's Third, Home Theater said: "This is one of the most revelatory moments in the history of surround orchestral recordings." Of the Mahler 6th, High Fidelity wrote: "This recording is quite simply the finest Mahler Sixth. It raises the bar for the whole classical recording industry."

The conductor has also released five highly successful CDs with the Boston Philharmonic, all of which are listed in the Penguin Guide - The Best Recordings of the past Twenty Years. Their recording of "The Rite of Spring" was voted by the New York Times as one of the Ten Most Important Musical Events of 1992 and even Zander's phenomenal high-school aged Youth Philharmonic at the New England Conservatory where he has taught for over 40 years, has made five commercial recordings and several PBS specials on their 15 international tours.

Laundrew,
Cowboy Junkies a country band??  Just cuz they have "Cowboys" in their name doesn't make them a country music band.

AT ALL!   :thumb:

Listen to their new Renmin Park and tell me if they are "country".   :D Or just listen to 1988's Whites Off Earth Now (especially the MFSL SACD version) and tell me they're "country".   :D

Saw Margo and the band a month ago (second time in 2 yrs) and they put on a great show.  The Revisited DVD/CD is incredibly well-recorded, but it is a complete redo of the classic.  Most, including myself, will still keep a special place for the original.  But the tautness of the Alan's bass, the overall air and texture of the new recording is quite something, especially from the DVD surround soundtrack.   I use the newer Walking After Midnight (the redbook version) as part of my equipment eval playlist (along with the original's Blue Moon Revisited and Whites Off's State Trooper).

Hello teb_b :D

I am afaird that I am walking on very thin ice when it comes to any music genre that is not Gothic or that which borders on its fringe.

What music genre would you suggest that Cowboy Junkies are?

Thanks :thumb:

Works for me if he actually paid for them....

James, if this is not a trade secret.... which amplifiers are powering those MB2 monsters???

Nap.
