My good friends at Electra Cable said that it is not only been filed it has also been given an application number. US 61/343,708.

Cool.  Can't find it in the db though...maybe it hasn't been entered.  I'll keep checking!   :thumb:

I still have some of these from the bag of blems bag that I bought. So if you want to try a set of these for only $25 a set then now is your chance to get some.

Just gotem in mail.
Thanks

P.S
quick question (which might be somewhat difficult to answer)

Q:
Studs are pretty tight fit and that's good news however, removing them takes a little effort because of its size and nature of the material.
So, my question is - do you plan on offering sone kind of shell/plug/grip?
Or, do you have any other (grip) suggestions for DIY crowd?

I just recieved mine as well, thanks Danny.  Question, can you purchase replacement studs for the speaker cable side?  I don't want to crimp these on a wire that I may change out in the not too distant future.

Thanks,
Ed

I was just looking at the stud construction and there is a potential for more user friendly wire hook-up. It might be possible to implement tinny screw (hold down) in the mid part of the stud. That is the thickest part of the stud and it might be enough to get enough thread to secure the wire with the small screw.
Something similar to Audioquest's solution.

Just a thought

Thanks Mariusz.  I was just looking at the diagrams on the website, they call for a bit of solder just behind the collar of each connection, I am thinking I may just use that and some heatshrink temporarily until I decide on a cable.

Best,
Ed

It is just an idea for Denny to think about.
It would be quite difficult for regular "Joe" like myself to do tho.
But it sure would have been appreciated it.  :eyebrows:
(Ill use solder as well)

Danny,
I just installed the first set of the new binding post in my V-1s,WOW, why didn't someone think of this sooner, it couldn't have been easier!  The fit is so tight ith the 7/16's hole I dont see any reason to use glue at this point.  Of course if they were to ever get loose I could add glue but it took some decent effort to get them in flush.

Here are a few (really bad) pics of the binding post installation.  Very simple and quick.

I inserted the speaker wire pin to determine how far to strip the wire for the binding post.

Wire stripped

Binding post on wire

Binding post crimped

Binding post soldered

Binding post pressed into speaker (very tight fit in 7/16s hole)

Quick and easy.

Looks like one speaker manufacturer is already on board. Custom units are being made in Black and Gray for them.

For any and all of you guys building new speaker projects, these are a must have.

A little too late for that Robin, they are crimped, soldered and installed .  You could shrinkwrap over the solder but not over the barrel of the connector, not if you drilled a 7/16"ths hole. very tight fit without the shrink wrap.

I'll try to do better next time  .

I hope I wasn't coming across as complaining Ed.   It was just a thought that might or might not be a good idea for others. The pictures are a great touch as they've always been Ed.  :thumb:

No worries Robin, just a little ribbing which doesn't always come across correctly when written.

Best,
Ed
