Without a doubt Touchstone custom tweeter surrounds by Diffractionbegone. An inexpensive and very effective means of upgrading your existing speakers.  The difference is night and day. :thumb:

They're that good?

IMO, absolutely.  Take a nice picture with the average lens, then take the same picture with a tack sharp lens.  That's what I'm talking about.  In photography, such coveted lenses cost $$$.

BTW, Jim has a few threads here with tons of reviews...

Getting a mic and some measurement software, so I could actually see what was happening in my room, and that let me use a bit of EQ to deal with major issues.

Refining my room treatments, measuring, then more room refining.

Bypassing the piezo super tweeters on my DQ-10s and installing Sequerra ribbon tweeters in their place.  Jaw-dropping!

Most profound upgrade in my system was building my amps. While it may be one of the better improvements I have made I would be lying if I said it was biggest sonic change I have ever made in my system. No, the reason I say the most profound is because I learned so much about DIY and nothing I have ever done in this hobby has been even one-tenth as rewarding.

I have been rolling tubes in and out recently, and each pairing was worse than the one before.  Some pairings were too tubey, others not tubey at all, and none really added up to anything I wanted to live with.   I was getting really discouraged and was about to give up until the last pairing was just WOW.  That magical sound that there are no words to describe.  The winning combination was a pair of RCA JRC 12AU7 from circa 1953 in the Candella, and a circa 1961 Dario MiniWatt in the EE DAC.  Definately the biggest change I have experience that did not include a major purchase.

Great stuff...exactly the kinds of things I was interested in hearing about...looking into the tweeter surrounds for sure.
I'm still in solid state territory so I can't try tubes, and some reading/education is needed just to understand other tweaks fully,Bass traps
are on my short list though a few months down the road.

DEQ (with room measurement) suddenly allowed the sound to "make sense", even in a Cardas prescribed room/set up that had GIK treatments, with speakers that are very room "unreactive".
