Hi Folks,

Heard these at a show recently and have decided to give them a home listen.

Hi James,

These look "Martin-Loganesque".  I have been considering the Summit X as a potential replacement for my current speaks.  If you are familiar with the Summits I'd be very interested in your thoughts on how these compare.  I'm not familiar with the company so if you have some background that would be appreciated as well.  Happy listening!

Hi Bill,

Roger Sanders is the guy that started Martin Logan.

Your right - sorry about that - my source must be mistaken. I will look into this.

Ok here's the scope - my source read the folowing article and assumed the curved screen reference was the tie in to ML.

Roger was designing stats even before Gayle Sanders and Ron Logan started Martin Logan.

Make sure you try the 10C. You will find it one of the most transparent you have ever heard above 200-300 Hz. Below that it is OK and still needs a sub. One problem with these is a very narrow sweet spot. Also, because the stat panel sits above the woofer and your ear height is not at the vertical center of the stat panel, it tends to unnaturally raise the soundstage in height. They are exteremely revealing of the electronics in front of them. Would love Roger to build a 6' stat panel with separate woofer section--that would be incredible.

Thanks Chris - I am going to try them with the electronic crossover.

Roger Sanders was the man behind Innersound until he left to form his own.  I heard his latest 2 years ago (not sure what he brought) at the RMAF and really like them.  I was also fortunate enough to hang out and chat with him for half an hour or so.  I liked the cohesion he got out the TL bass unit with the 'Stats.  I have big Soundlabs that I biamp with 4 subs (Audiokinesis Storm).  It's not easy to blend them but he gets it done.  He is a real gentleman who really did not sound like a person who peddles audio jewelry.  He makes products based on sound engineering principles and he brings in his knowledge and experience to make them work.  No gimmicks.  I think you get your money's worth in performance when you deal with Roger's products.

My exact same findings.
I heard the Innersound Kayas a few years back and the very small sweetspot meant if you moved your head around too much, you lost it, produced a very focused unreal soundstage, like I've never heard before.

You'll like this aspect.
It will be interesting to hear how you like the Sanders compared to a conventional box speaker.

Chris,

I feel certain there is an audiophile booster seat that sells for $5K or so out there that would solve this problem.

Roger called and said the speakers are leaving the factory on Monday. Hopefully will have them late next week.

Rogers speakers indeed sound superb, but they do have a very narrow sweet spot, and are just as finicky to set up as ML's.  I presume you no longer have the ML CLX's.

Are you going to try Rogers amps as well?

Hi sleepysurf,

Yes I sold the CLX's.  Just to show you what a class guy Roger is he said he had a number of Bryston amps through his lab and there was no need to buy his amplifiers.

THAT's what I want..  But it sounds like he finally caught onto what digital crossovers can do:

"The Model 10b comes with analog crossovers using 24 dB/octave slopes and a crossover point of 330 Hz.  The Model 10c comes with digital crossovers using 48 dB/octave slopes and a crossover point of 172 Hz."

Hi Jon L

Yes I asked Roger today about plans to go with a full range panel in the future.

His comment - after 30 years of designing electrostatics this is the way to go!

I'm hoping Roger shows his wares this year at RMAF.  I'd like to hear what he's doing now in comparison to the ML Aerius i that I once owned.

James, it would also be interesting to hear what you think in comparison to the 2905s.

This is going to be an interesting thread!  :thumb:

Haha.  Perhaps...  But then he needs long adjustable spikes on the back to enable tilting down of the speaker significantly to align panels to listener's ear IMO  :green:

BTW.  Why did you sell your CLX ??!

Hi Jon,

I usually do not keep any particular speaker beyond a few months (other than my Quad 2905's). My motives for bringing in different speakers is based on educating myself about how our gear (Bryston) interfaces with the more popular speakers on the market.

That way I feel I can offer valid input to our customers because I have lived and experienced the subtles with the particular Bryston /Speaker setup.
