I kind of like the Human League, tho. Are they disco?

The Sensational Alex Harvey Band.

Saw them with The Tubes(which I forgot to mention, but maybe someone already has).

A really good show.

Some non-US bands "fall through the cracks" when they make a big impact in their domestic markets but never get anywhere in the US.  I suspect that many of the popular Australian bands I listened to growing up fall into this category.

The most obvious is Cold Chisel - a legendary band at home.  But (so the story goes), when their classic album East was remixed and released in the US, the remix sounded absolutely awful and the record company refused to offer any support for the album, or for the band's tour.  The band's next album included a track directed to the US music industry: You Got Nothing I Want.  Needless to say, the US Music Industry never offered them anything at all.

Other Australian bands/artists from this time that remain obscure in the US:

Daddy Cool
Skyhooks
Stevie Wright
Sherbet
Hunters and Collectors
Australian Crawl
Paul Kelly

I'm seeing several bands I would consider bands from the 60's show up like Cream; The Kinks; The Nice; It's a Beautiful Day; New York Rock n Roll Ensemble; Ouicksilver Messenger Service; Ten Years After; Jethro Tull; Deep Purple and Traffic. All great bands and all released albums in the 70's, but they first hit the national stage in the 60's. I saw several of them in concert in the 60's. That probably means my age is showing.

There might be a reason he "fell through the cracks."  He died in 1938!

Not THAT Robert Johnson, another one with his album, "close personal friend", very good power pop!

I guess I could go through my LP stack of 80s bands and find some like Gang of Four or Martha and the Muffins.  There are plenty others too like Tear for Fears, The Psychedelic Furs, UB40 or ABC.

Heck I'll just list a few.

Depeche Mode
Frankie Loves Hollywood
Spyrogyra
Devo ??
Asia
Spandau Ballet
Pat Travers Band

I have more but they're buried in a closet. lol

Has anybody said Hughes/Thrall?

If so,  , +1.

If not: Hughes/Thrall self-titled album, Hughes/Thrall.  Muscle and Blood is one of the best songs of the era.  :thumb:

Have fun,
Jerry

I wouldn't be so sure.

Robert Johnson (the original) allegedly sold his soul to the devil to secure his legendary guitar-playing skills.  The fact that he apparently has TWO burial sites only adds to the evidence that there was something paranormal about his life and abilities.  It wouldn't surprise me at all if he re-emerged forty years after his first death (or two) to claim the musical fortune to which he was entitled.

It would surprise me if he devoted his resurrection to playing 80s power pop, though.

How could I forget Garland Jeffreys?   :duh:
Ghost Writer, Wild in the Streets, Don't Call Me Buckwheat, She Didn't Lie, 96 Tears, Rough and Ready, R.O.C.K., and on and on.  This is a terrific introduction that covers his work on several labels.
