Well he is at it again. Bob carver and freinds are releasing a brand new cost is no object KT88, Telefunken set of mono blocks. If you have not seen them they are one off tube amps, hand built and sold only on e-bay. simply type the text below in your web browser ( Stereo tube amplifiers amps, Carver, KT88, Telefunken
Designed by Tim de Paravicini , Bob Carver, 180 Watts) and read about how the master has fixed all of the inherent problems with tube amps. This is a facinating read for any one who loves tube amps. Last veiw the current bid was only around 4 grand.

Not On Ebay he hasn't "edit :under his present Ebay usename" as he only has 7 selling feedbacks total that date back to june 2008(edited to keep Doug s happy), all of which involve his new KT-88 amps. On other hand he has 517 buying feedbacks that fill up the bulk of his feedback total.  :D

He has indeed been selling this (or a version of it) since 2008.

Actualy I believe that he has sold 7  different pares of the amps all tweked and slightly different and they have all been listed on ebey over a period of two years. They are hand built and I would imagine that they take a long time to develop and assemble. These amps are based indirectly on the Silver seven's under the carver name. Additionaly I have heard rumors of a replica (never commercialy available) of the Silver One pre amp, a prototype preamp desined specificaly for the silver seven and silver nine mono tube blocks.

I changed my post so to be more specific. Regardless, anyone can clearly check that username and see for themselves that what I'm saying is clearly fact. Many folks have many different username accounts that they use for various reasons.  :thumb:

He built some a few months back that would drive the amp eating, 1 ohm Apogee Scintillas...Carver owns a pair of Scintilla.

Really nice to see Bob Carver doing something like this. Seems to be paying homage to the time-tested audiophile designs. His ad explains how the vintage parts he used and the winding of the transformers made a difference in the sound! If Bob Carver can be convinced then there still is hope for converting all the other non-believers!

robin, who cares if what you are saying is fact?  does it really matter what ebay name bob has been using?  it doesn't change the fact that i first saw bob talk about these amps, w/his collaboration w/tim, w/almost exact werbiage & pics, on ebay about two years ago.  i'm not sure, as it's been a while, but he may have still had some of the wintage transformers he talks about...

i'm not arguing, robin, i yust don't understand what point you are trying to make.   the only point i was making is that bob carver has been selling these amps for two years.

I'm not trying to make any point Doug other than only 7 amps have been sold since june 2008 (edited to keep Doug s happy), all auctions so far have been going for over $6000. What's your problem with that?

Incase you're trying to put a negative spin on this Doug, I've been a proud owner of a Bob Carver Sunfire Theater Grand 4 processor that's the heart of my system for 4 years now.  :thumb:

Hey no fighting guy's we all read this stuff because we love it not because we hate it so lets love not hate. P.s. Bob has always loved tube stuff and probably always wanted to build it. I imagine that the sales numbers were just not there enough for a carreer back in the 70's and 80's, besides he was just trying to prove to the world that he could match or come damm close to the warm sound of tubes using transfer function's or resistors. stereophile and at least one other mag of the time couldent hear the difference. That is what spearheaded the $18000 dollar silver sevens. He did it beacause he could and because he loved the art of audio. As he says in the comments section of this last auction as long as he lives he will be building amps.

no negative spin at all, robin.  i think it's cool that bob's been doing this for a coupla years; your comments about his ebay participation, (completely irrelevant), seem to indicate you believe that he's been doing it only since june 2009, which is not the case.

mort, i remember the s'phile carver challenge where bob matched the sound of s'phile's chosen tube amp w/a solid-state iteration.  but, it wasn't quite true that the sound was identical.  s'phile said the sound was incredibly close, but they actually slightly preferred carver's iteration!   8)

Now, we need to question the source of the positive commentaries that we made or the emissary.  One needs to take Stereophile and their reviewers as a grain of salt, considering that SOMEONE is paying to have their advertisements there.  Who in their right mind would take their comments literally?
