I hate to stir up the past but: Stereophile did find a bottom end prefference with the m1.0 by carver, however that would have lost him the bid as he was tasked with making them sound identical. So he went back to his hotel room(they had given him 48 hours) and the next day after de tuning the M1.0 they were determined to be sonicly Identical in every aspect. And as for Carver Corperation paying Stereophile. To say this is proposterous, concidering the insuing lawsuits and contention between the two. Not to mention that for reputation protection The Conrad Jhonson preimier 5 was kept anonymous. Stereophile was then purchased and the new powers that be began to stir shit up. He did win the challange hands down no bias or jurymandering. to this day the editors who were in the room hold true to this conviction. Stereophile has just recently republished the challange with after comments on the web. I will post this link later.

mort, thanks for the clarification; i only remembered that s'phile slightly preferred the sound of the carver amp; i didn't remember that carver went back and "remedied" the bass.

Not On Ebay he hasn't "edit :under his present Ebay usename" as he only has 7 selling feedbacks total that date back to june 2009, all of which involve his new KT-88 amps. On other hand he has 517 buying feedbacks that fill up the bulk of his feedback total.  :D

Cheers,
Robin
robin, the first of these amps sold on ebay under his present name was june 2008.

robin, you are being ridiculous.  i said bob has had these f/s for about two years on ebay.  you say no, "Not On Ebay he hasn't", that they have been f/s for less than a year, and you use the dates from ebay as proof.  i point out your mistake, and you have the audacity to say i am a real piece of work?     you should try getting out more.

No problem Doug!   :thumb:

I have dealt with him in private.  He is completely illogical and will not admit when he is wrong.

My advise....don't waste your breath and time...don't bother with him period!  You will get nowhere.

We should really keep comentary about the post, arguing can be done in personal messages. Anyways I found in doing some reasearch that every summer there is a Carver fest everybody gets together in Virgina or some eastern state and rents a beautiful resort consisting of many log or pannaboat cabins. They seem to all bring their favorite gear. Last year Bob raffeld off a pair of his new tube monoblocks. My guess is that he will do the same this year. If one is interested in hearing them and you are close to the festival I am sure they would accomidate. For more info go tho the Carver site. http://thecarversite.com/yetanotherforum/default.aspx?g=forum

The Carverfest is held in Sept 10th 20th, at Watershead Cabins North Carolina. http://www.watershedcabins.com
You are correct about Bob, giving away a set of his 180 amps (that was in 2008, he did not in 2009), but it was not a raffle, just a name from the hat. weitrhino (Mike) won them.
That was the 2rd pair made. As far as I know, Bob has made 10 sets and sold them (other than the set he gave away & my set) on Ebay. I have the 9th set, the 10th set just ended on Ebay 30 Jan 2010,
and yes we do bring our gear down , listen to everbodys system and have a blast. :green:

Thanks for all that added info and especially the pictures. :thumb:   The fact that Bob has only made 10 sets if these amps in 2 years practically make these gems a collectors item. You are definitely 1 of the fortunate few Brian.  :notworthy:
