I've got a couple dozen more photos of birds from the beach. Mostly Sea gulls, and those little hyper things that run from the encroaching wave.

The late bird gets the worm, too.

Nice

Is that a mouse or cicada? it looks big. Is that a Road Runner type of bird? Where was this picture taken?

Also, what type of bird is that with wings spread - I can only guess a Mockingbird.

This American Oystercatcher is in the middle of a courting display. With those eyes what potential mate could resist.

No idea what kinds of birds they are.  The first bird was at Sitka, AK, with what looks to be a worm in its beak, second was at...Somewhere north of Anchorage, I assume.

That's a little guy, the thorns are as big as his feet! What kind is that?

It's some type of sparrow.

Birds are a tough subject. Here's my effort from out on the reef this afternoon. I don't what it is... it does seem to like seafood though.

Nice shot. Looks like some Sandpiper variant.

Here's another selection from my small bird collection.

Ah, not a sandpiper, but you set me on the right track, it turns out to be a Masked Lapwing - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masked_Lapwing

Birds are definitely a challenging subject. It was a real struggle getting this BIF (bird in flight) shot of a Kingfisher. Kingfishers zip around in quick jerky motions which makes it very hard to get them in frame.

I think that wildlife photography help satisfy our hunting instincts without actually killing the animal.

I think you're right.  Seems to be out of its habitat, but its behavior is spot on with what's written on the internet with the exception that it was alone and not in a flock.
