Hi....What ever happen to Ian, the PMC rep?
I own the GB1 i's and I find them very natural and non-fatiguing. I'm running the McIntosh C220/MC252 combo with them. I also rotate my vintage Marantz 2235B and 2245.

b5pt9....I find that my cherry finish will develop a "bikini tan line" if I leave the grills on...so they are nude now with no lines at all  aa  You can see those beauties in my gallery

Hi Frisco,

Ian didn't respond on the thread but sent me a PM about the darkening.  He said it was related to sunlight but they will only go to a certain deeper shade over time and then the tanning process will level off.  I've been looking for lemon oil with an SPF rating but no luck so far .

I saw some FB1's on Agon years ago that had severe tan lines so I've never used grills with mine.  My FB1+ have tan lines on the bottom where the plinth goes though.

Enjoy the GB1i's they seem to get excellent reviews  :).

Interesting findings on the PMC finish.  I have an OB1 with black ash.  Upon close inspection, I noticed that the veneer on my speakers has bubbles.  Is this normal.  It is minor flaw however I am afraid the veneer will come off when you run your fingers over them.

What is there to do now?

Levi.....did you buy them new or used again? If new..contact your dealer and see if something can be done.....if used I wouldn't touch them unless I was into woodwork or "just leave them alone "  :nono:

Where is it located? front, sides, back? have pics?

I bought them new from an authorized dealer.  I contacted my dealer and he said to contact PMC-Speakers.

They are located on the side.  Not that obvious but if you run your fingers, you will notice it.

Hi Levi;

Can you keep us posted on how PMC resolves your veneer problem?  Althought not severe,  that is NOT normal.  I'm curious to see if you get the roundaround from your dealer to PMC and so on.  I feel like PMC's customer service is going down as their prices go up.   So much for Ian Verdugo helping out on this forum.  I have attempted to contact PMC several times over the past few years with questions about my speakers and their products in general,  and never get a response.  All I can say is,  when I contact Bryston with questions,  I always get an answer,  often within a matter of hours.

I spoke to Ian Verdugo over the phone and he asked me to send him pictures of my OB1.

i think this is your typical response,
wanna buy,i will talk
fix or problems,tooooooo busy
i sickens me that this kinda response is typical.
When it took from Oct.15 to April to get my CB6,during Bryston/PMC changover,i lost ""ALL"" respect, hell i talked to the big guy himself, and they still would not ship it to me($$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$) so my winter time listening pleasure was over.
I do not hate PMC,i love the product synergy with Bryston(as i said to James ""You are 3hrs away from me and you pick a speaker 3000 miles from you...BUMMER!")  BUT this huge dollar sucking company should put some time on here if they are going to want your money.
This man is hiding on the side lines and will PM,PM,PM to all your problems.
i do apologize if i offended anyone,i just speak my mind.

I also do not hate PMC speakers,  actually I like mine just fine.  But with prices getting ridiculous and my concerns about customer service,  at this point I doubt I will upgrade and buy from them again.  I agree about your PM (personal messages) comment.  Sending only personal messages somewhat defeats the purpose of participating in a public forum,  and doesn't help out the rest of us who might benefit from shared information.  Looks kinda shoddy.

Hey, uhh, sorry for the extremely late response...  I can only handle so much - No excuse...  But yes, since our veneers are natural the cherry is sensitive to light.  I would indeed recommend keeping the grills off for a bit.  The cherry will darken to certain point at which you can be comfortable with their exposure... The GB's are a wonderful little tower, I like to call them the Girly Box.  PMC works very nicely with McIntosh, you are a kind person to treat your GB's with Mac.

That's the word from who?

... Hey there guys, Ian here from PMC... You may remember me from earlier posts. (Troy McClure anyone, the Simpsons, voiced by Phil Hartman?)

Sorry John, wrong word...  Prices are level, and likely staying there.  Handbuilt, world economics, exchange rates...

I beg to differ....  We build a reference Bookshelf and Floorstander as well monitors that some of the most revered professionals in their respective fields swear by...  They honestly feel that they are getting their moneys worth and their creative output reaffirms what we do, so for you to feel that you aren't getting you moneys worth is your personal opinion.  I could PM'd this to you but, apparently I've been called out for doing such, as privacy isn't cool  :o...

Give me a call I'll talk to you (check the website for #)...  Meet me in person and I'll give you a hug too ....  I didn't know that there was an ordinance against PM'ing...  Consider it a thing of the past.

I was not aware that Ray bought a demo pair from PMC-Speakers and sold me the same speakers!  :cuss:

I purchased from PMC-Speakers authorized dealer (Raybeatav) therefore, I should be covered with full-warranty against defect in workmanship and materials.   :thumb:

The question is how do we fix my veneer problem?

Thanks Ian.

If you are going out front from behind the curtain then bow to your audience and answer their questions as James does.
People pay a considerable amount of money for your product and have ?????????????????.
Sometimes you have TO DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO to get out from behind the curtain even if it means a little shove!
