Since I got my first pair of Straley speaker cables I've replaced every cable in my system with Straleys. I feel no need to move on to anything else. From my experience with other cables I don't think I could get anything of similar quality for less than 3 or 4 times the price.

I have Greggs' cables in my system for years. They sound so good it does not even occur to me to change them.  Am I going to look for another brand of cable that are multiple times the price of these cables and wind-up with lower than reference sound?  No way!!!!!

I'm currently using a double run (true biwire) of Gregg's cables on each speaker and have no desire to change them. They are part of a system that is giving me the best sound I have ever had in my room. Gregg was incredible to deal with and even went out of his way to  terminate my cables with custom paddle spades for my Theta amps. Superb sound and service! Nuff' said

Just an update on my new Reality speaker cables.

I already had a pair of Gregg's red limited availability cables and he said he was sending me another pair to compare.

The new ones are white (definitely blend better cosmetically than the red ones), larger and definitely stiffer.

Turns out the reason Gregg sent them to me was because he knew I had a Spectron MIII SE Mk2 hooked to my SP Tech mini's. He emailed me today saying he thought I might like them because of their synergy with digital amps.

I hooked them up last week as soon as I got them. I'm pretty new to all this and have assembled my system based mostly on the opinions of several reliable AC members. So I'm easily impressed and my system is definitely (there's that word again) making music to my ears. 

My immediate impression of the new cables were "darn if they don't sound better!"

That's all you're going to get out of me. I don't have golden ears but I'm pretty sure I know when I like what I hear. 

I'm not even sure all this stuff is even broken in yet. It can only get better.

I hope to hear the new cable soon after the move, though my strong preference would be for Spectron to offer a Straley-based version of their Remote Sense cables.

There's no way of knowing for sure, but if the sonic properties of Gregg's cable can be maintained and then combined with the Remote Sense capability, I believe such a cable would be a sure-fire hit with Spectron owners.

You'd think that as good as the Spectron amp is, they must have had something good in mind with those cables.

Here is a pic I took to compare the Reality red and white speaker cables. Obviously I exaggerated a bit about the difference in sizes. Even though the new white cables have larger strands, the old red ones have more strands so they end up being very nearly the same diameter.

The new white ones are a bit stiffer though.

Hey Eric.  The S40 is definetly one of the best single ended amplifiers. The other Clayton amps that are balanced are on a higher level.  Right now my speakers are Ed Frias's T-36 which is a good speaker that dips down quite low in the bass for a two way with a tweeter and two 6.5" mid/woofers.  I am casually looking around for a speaker that will give me a fuller sound i.e. Audio Physic Virgo that has a dedicated bass driver to show off my S40.

Just wait until an S40 pops up on Audiogon, it should go for about $2000.00.  It puts out more power then the specs would imply. The Clayton can drive just about any speaker except maybe the real big Mommas.

If I could get a little off topic.  I have some of Gregg's older interconnects and in my Beveridge based system. His interconnects were the equal of the Stealth Indras in my system.  I know he uses the Bevs to help voice his products but this is very high praise indeed.  Bob

I tried some Straley speaker cables, thought they might better my PS Audio statements, but they didn't. Nice, but kind of a smoothed over sound, I thought, maybe a little bland. I stuck with the PS Audios, but have now replaced them with a pair of Morrow cables that I really like.

Interesting quote...I have PS Audio Statement cables as well,way to stiff,heavy and cumbersome but, I thought that they sounded just as good if not better. maybe a little more etched in the high's but lot's of PRAT. I need to hear them again with the rig now to confirm. I have not tried Morrow cables will need to check them out.

I found the Morrows accentuate the bass frequencies.  Their spades are nice and wide and beefy though.

I've written about them in a few forums.  Simon loaned me a pair.  I believe that, although not giant killers, the Remote Sensing cables are one of the best I've heard at their price and then some.  They were bested by my SR Tesla Accelerator at 3X the price, and I didn't A-B them with the Straleys.  Simon agreed with my assessment that the slower feedback loop in the sesning portion (200ms I believe) are the only reason they didn't give the PRAT and air that the much more expensive SR's did.  They did sound incredibly coherent with tremendous bass control.  Spectron is talking about designing a signature version (with a faster feddback loop) with a hi-end cable mfg, at more money.

Is there anyway you can DIY the Remote Sense cables using Greg's speaker cables and a Neutrik connector?  You can pick up Neutrik connectors from Parts Express.

I'm pretty sure Greg cryo's the connectors so you would probably have to cryo the Nuetriks to get the same quality.

If its just the Neutrik's and the speaker cable then I'm sure Gregg will be able to make up the cable and get everything cryoed.
