This may be inapropriate, but I'm not really a manufacturer yet.
My partner and I have designed and built several pair of Hybrid mono block amps. My personal pair have been in service for 3 years now. I feel that these amps will satisfy your needs.
I don't mean this as a sales pitch or a shill, or whatever, just would really like people with power hungry, quality speakers that they enjoy to give them a try.

It's still inappropriate, Mark.

You are permitted to post about topics that do not mention your product or services anywhere on the site. You are not permitted to discuss or "pitch" your product or services outside of the areas below, except for the purpose of clarifying or adding additional factual information. You are also not permitted to send unsolicited personal messages (PMs) offering products or services.

You can freely use the Industry Ads and Industry Talk circles to promote and discuss your products or services, respectively. If you have a working relationship with a manufacturer with a circle here, you can also post in that circle provided that the manufacturer has agreed to have you do so. (Examples: 1. A dealer for that manufacturer's product; 2. Someone who makes speaker boxes for a kit from that manufacturer.)

Accordingly, manufacturers - current and future - should refrain from promoting their products and services in Audio Central.

Thanks.

Hope all is well with you.  I missed you (and somehow missed Jason ) at the '07 RMAF.

Well, I'm pretty jaded, but I think I've got something pretty special coming up, so unfair or not it will be worth waiting for :)

I lost touch with Jason too for a while but we are back in contact again.  I hope to make the RMAF, but might be visiting my in-laws in Europe.  If I make it to RMAF I'll definitely be looking out for you :D

Family matters will likely prevent a trip to Denver this year.  :(

My apologies. I shall abide by the rules, now that they are clear to me.

My 2 cents on the original topic:  Manley Neo Classics.  Yes, I have heard them and they ROCK .
I have heard classical, jazz, vocals and rock.  They handled everything thrown at it from delicate to dynamic with no apparent effort.

Not a bad choice on your list, good luck.

Love the Manleys off that list if you can take the heat.  Sound very different than the VTLs.  They just down right boogie.

I'm eyeing a pair of Snappers myself as i don't need that much power.

I've been hanging out at a bunch of pro audio forums lately....Manley is very popular pro gear.  Much moreso than on the hifi side.  My buddy wants her massive passive EQ :)

If you want to stay SS and avoid digital...check out a Krell 700cx.  Very, very good amp at 6500 used.

My biggest fear with something like the Manleys is getting rid of them someday w/o losing my butt.  Resale of more "popular" amps like McCormack, Spectron, Pass, etc. is much easier if you look at the number of days a listing for some of these amps sit before moving.  So my current dilemma is deciding between what might "boogie" and the downside risk later on.  Plus the heat and maintenance of tube amps.  But boogie is definitely intriguing.

What did you not like about the Pass?

I like it.  It is perhaps a little too polite for me.  I think I can get more bass and some more fleshy midrange elsewhere.  It is my reference for sound so far though.  If my hectic pace brings me back to another Pass I will be happy.

While a bit less spendy than the other suggestions... have you ever had a chance to listen to Hugh's AKSA amps (http://www.aksaonline.com/buying/buying_price.html)?  I had his 100N+ unit (no longer the top of his range), in my system for demo purposes a while back and I've missed it ever since.  I'm still kicking myself for not just building/buying one back then.  GREAT bass... by that I don't necessarily mean alot/too much, I mean its just right.  Strong, tight, clean...  great midrange too...  Oh well... maybe someday I'll get one.

Good luck in your search.  In general, I think its tough getting the right match w/ your speakers.  I'm amazed by how different one amp sounds to another.
