Hi All,

In my never ending quest for audio nirvana --- does anyone know of a pair of Acoustat 3's that might be for sale?

Do you want Model 3's or Monitor 3's?  I assume Model 3's with transformers and you'll be using your own amp.

Check out Mike Savuto at Analog Associates.

Mike and his company support Acoustat, do upgrades, have some stock, etc.  They also support Counterpoint.

Hi splittailz.

Ya I know but the Acoustat was one of those speakers I could never afford as a budding audiophile and I think its about time I played with a pair.  Also I find if I have a specific speaker at home to live with for awhile I can be much more knowledgeable when providing advice to our customers when using Bryston products on specific speakers.

By the way can anyone give me a quick overview of the different models and which one was considered the best given a normal room size?

thanks,
james

 james,

in case you don't want and /or need a pair of speakers- what are you doing with all that stuff?
do you sell it  or do you keep it? and how many speakers do you have 'in stock' already?

i am asking, 'cause it's always hard to give equipment away as curiousity forces you ( or anyone who is in this hobby) to buy new     stuff, right?! however, i always feel bad when i give away any of these sweethearts.

Hi Alex,

I usually keep them if I like them so I currently have about 5 pairs of different speakers at this point. Eventually I usually sell them to someome in the industry (reviewers etc.) that hear them at my place and have to have them!

BTW, Mike & I were discussing the merits of Maxx2's & Evolution 600's over my Maggies/ Bryston/ JL combo. We didn't come up with any reason to look at the Maxx's or Evolutions.

I believe Evolution 600s are Krell mono block amps.

Did you get the Acoustat 3's yet?  I am getting a near pristine Rosewood/Black pair this week to "play with" for awhile . I would like the know what you have experienced and learned about these that might help  me enjoy the monoliths beside acting like the apes in 2001 Space Oddessy. My room may not be big enough for these to sound great so my ownership maybe brief let alone the WAF. LOL!

It seems like anyone who puts their Acoustats up for sale insists on a local sale only.  :|

Hi Kim,

No sorry I could not find a pair in good shape and the only ones I did were 2plus2's and they were too tall for the room I wanted to use them in.

Hi James,
Please forgive me since I'm new to this forum but what speakers are you using primarily and with what amps?

Thanks

Hi,

I have 3 different sound rooms (still married) and 5 different pairs of speakers which are always changing (because I'm addicted) but currently the speaker/amps are:

1. Quad 2905 Electrostatics with 4B SST SQ
2. Martin Logan CLX Electrostatics with 28B's SQ
3. Thiel 3.7's with 28B's SQ
4. IB2's with 14B SQ
5. JBL 1400 Arrays with 14B SQ
