What power cords are you using and where?
« on: 17 Jun 2008, 03:11 pm »
I have a gaggle of PC's now, none too rich, but want to know where you are using your aftermarket cords.  I get a little confused on whether any of you are using them on the wall side of conditioners and the component side, or just the component side.  Or are you only using them from the wall outlets to the components w/o conditioners.

I have a Poiema 9 footer, a Moon Audio Silver 10 footer, a Lessloss, 2 Signal Cable, 2 original Iego (before the new 80229 cable), and 3 homemade PC's.  I'm not using them all at once.  My amp(s) is direct to wall but may see an Audience aR1p soon, my pre runs through a Monarchy AC regen, and the rest is to a Brickwall surge unit.

Do you concern yourself with outbaord power supplies for things like SB's?

I believe the Lessloss should be connected straight to the wall, although one person mentioned that he used one to plug his conditioner into the wall.  Also, I wouldn't use the Lessloss on power supplies, i.e., Lingo, Lehmann's power supplies.  You might, if you have a silver pc, try it on analog.  Tvad had an amp that pc's seemed to have little effect on(PS audio? or Pass?), and he used his Volex 17604 on that.  Maybe that amp had a big power supply of its own?

Nothing exotic here. I'm cheap.

All Signal "Magic" Power Cables here. Previously all Asylum Power cables.
All between components to no nonsense Wiremold (Naim) power strip.
Audio Vista i34 Power Amp is direct to wall. Very little hum now.
Signal "Magic" PC off HSU VTF3 MKII.
Signal "Digital" PC from my Denon 1650AR transport. I use an older (green) XLO power cable from my Benchmark DAC1. For some reason I have liked what this cable does on digital for a long time now.
I also use older XLO Sig 1 interconnects from the DAC for the same reason.
I do have a Brick Wall Line filter too, sitting idle right now. So I'm unprotected.

Still evaluating all this. So far no complaints. Again, I'm one not to spend thousand$ on power products.
Spent a lot and too much in the past.

I have a suggestion about your confusion.  Music is a universal language, and as such, it involves your subconscious more than your conscious mind.  I would go with what you like more, rather than listening to a specific, such as a bass note, etc., because at the end of the day, you will like your music more if you go with that.  In some cases, listing recordings and how they sound, can be misleading.  I was just messing around with ASC tube traps, and the one in the middle between the speakers sounds better sitting closer to one speaker than another-so I go with that.  It goes without saying that the power cords don't cross other wires, and(at least in my case) are lifted from the floor.

I use Elrod Signatures on everything. I have one from the wall to my amp, one from the wall to an Isoclean strip (don't underestimate the affect here) and one from the strip to the cdp. After much trial and error, this set-up has yielded the best presentation in my system so far. I also keep them away from other cables (speaker and interconnects) as well as off the floor.

I have the original Iego L70530+8065ct (silver) on both my Belles preamp and Onix cdp/transport.  I have the Manitou Windigo power cord ( 6sons audio) on my Usher amp.

Volex all around for me, with the exception of a Zu Bok on my CD player.  Everything but my power amps are plugged into a Richard Gray RGPC 400 Pro.  My power amps go straight to the wall.

Great system BTW.  Eric makes some really killer cables for sure and is a great guy.   :thumb:

I demo'd them and got to know Eric pretty well.  I could easily be happy if I changed out to all Fusion, but have my system with DCCA Reference Masters throughout and they have all been individually tweaked to my requests by Don, so they maintained a slight edge over the Fusions and the cost of changing everything over was going to be a burden, blah blah blah...

I also really like what both types of Purist Dominus cords did with different pieces in my system.

Thanks ;)  Yeah, Eric is great to deal with - I've had so many email conversations with him, I feel like I know him.  He's tempting me with the new Running Springs Dimitri(sp?) - supposed to be very good but much more $$ than the current line..

I have a Duke for my amps and a Haley for my Pre and CDP, curious as I am in the Dimitri, I can't imagine improving dramatically so I think I'll sit tight...
