I just received one - so far so good.  I also picked up a pack of Mini-discs to try recording the radio and/or CDs.  More after I've had some time with it.  I'll take pics on request for potential buyers.

Guys,
This thing sounds like a great deal, but I do have some questions.  After reading up on Sharp's take on "digital" amplification, it seems that they are using multiple A/D and D/A conversions and the systems aren't really effecient.  Can the system be described this way: small form-factor mini-system with CD/MD/Tuner and a 12.5 watt x 2 (into 8 ohms) amp that takes all signals and converts them to analog, then to 1-Bit (DSD) signals (amplified) to drive speakers?  Other than size and features, is this product a "breakthrough"?  Just some random thoughts.

Yeah, the implementation is a bit baffling, and one wonders how this thing can even sound good.   When Andy brought it over, the Sharp wasn't the end all piece of audio equipment, but it did sound darn good, detailed, dynamic, etc., and is making me seriously consider selling the rest of my equipment because it comes pretty close to it at a fraction of the price.

Oh one thing; it is gorgeous.   Cool mechanized flip cover and pretty lcds to dazzle the easily impressed. :)

Sunny.

They do have their much more expensive line, specifically for audio without all the additional features.  I'd certainly hope that line sonds much, much better than the combo setups.

Upon purchase I wasn't thinking or expecting 'breakthrough' in sound quality, but if I'm able to find a unit for $125 that includes source (audio/video), tuner, home theater processor, and amplifier -- its a good enough deal to have it be worthwhile somewhere in my home, whether it be bedroom, television watching, or audio...

There are several audio reviews out there for their higher end 1-bit amplifiers, and digital players -- the reviews may provide a bit more insight into the units even if they are much different from these cheaper combo units.

Well I got my SG11 last night and set it up with my $75 Omage AV21s that I ordered to go with it for our bedroom system.  Some bedroom system it is!

It is hard to believe that this unit is only $126!  It is solid, heavy, has real audio connections and as others have said looks killer.  I am surprised it sounds as good as it does but it has more breaking in to do before I nitpick.  ATM, it isn't making me want to sell my main rig or anything.

Josh,
I agree it looks really cool and (IMO) sounds better than anything that costs $129 should sound.  Just for yucks, you should try it with your larger speakers.  There is no way it will have the dynamics of a larger or more powerful amp (it's only 25 wpc!...and it's a combo unit), but the highs are not bad.  I was expecting the highs to sound harsh, but that is not the case.  I would like to try this thing with some monitors with metal domes, just for the heck of it.  Could be fun.

Let us know how those Omage speakers work out.  I may pick up a pair to play with the crossovers.  I bet they have really cheap crossovers in stock form.

Yes, the one-box solution is what interests me.  I am a little worried about the power though.  If you have nominal 8-ohm speakers, you are going to get about 12 watts per channel.  Background listening should be fine, but what if you want to "rock out"?

based upon my experience w/my 8wpc wave-8 toobed monoblocks & my swan m1.2's (90db/1w/1m), ya should be ok w/any speaker 90db efficient or more...  the li'l wave-8's drove the swan's really loud in my 26x38x8.5 room...

Okay, I decided to use a $700 pair of interconnects (Zeus Audio), and a $100 powercord (BMI), and a $200 set of speaker cables (Sonic Labs) on mine--now if I just had a pair of speakers I could actually hear them!!!

FYI,

I think the Volex PC (14 ga Belden based, referred to by John Risch) would be a great match for this unit and is what I am using.  It is also $6-8 online.  Your speakers would have to be really resolving to want anything more.

The only thing is you have to buy I think a minimum of 6 cords.  I could use another 3 so if someone wants the others I can order them and ship to you.  I think the site is McMaster & Carr, I will have to look it up but I have an account there.

Thank's skchow for the heads-up.

Now I'll just keep my eyes open for the $129 sale on this baby!
