Bought this for my computer audio.  Very sweet deal!!!  I especially love the Minidisc, since I can immediately record anything right off the AM/FM station or CD and can fit 80/160/320 minutes on a disc.  The CD and MD slots are on top along with all the buttons.  Includes a remote as well.
Note: Does not come with speakers.

I wonder how Sony and Panasonic's digital amps differ from Sharps 1-bit amp?

I haven't read a lot of reviews on the 1-bit amp from Sharp ...

But killer deal on this unit!

I haven't received my unit yet, but this should be a good opportunity to own the 1-bit and see how they perform.  I think the box on the right is the amplifier, which is good in case the main unit goes bad.  That way, I'll still have a whole amp that can be intergrated elsewhere.

Hell, most minidisc recorders are selling for a bit over $100 bucks as a standalone!  So you can imagine why I find this to be a bargain.

For some people here, I thought it would be something nice or good enough for a computer system or the kitchen.  I don't want to pass this off as the holy grail, but rather a tool that fits the job.

Just ordered one from buy.com as well.  I figure that I've got a bunch of extra speakers in the house and at worst it should be able to serve as a bedroom unit.  At the price, it's actually pretty cheap for a mini-system.

I found a review of the Sharp SD-NX10 which is apparently from the same line as the SD-SG11 at GoodSound.

http://www.goodsound.com/equipment/sharp_sdnx10.htm

The review was pretty favorable, so I'm hoping the unit sounds ok, although probably not up to the current wave of digital amps out today.
(Hopefully it won't be too much worse, though, heck, it initially debuted at $1499  :D ).

Ok,  I received mines today.. I love it!  This thing is so nifty.  I am recording some Jazz content off of FM onto mindisc and it sounds fabulous.  The sound quality is more than I expected from this kid.  Highs are not too harsh but remain fairly crisp.  I am sold on this digital technology.  I will probably end up selling my Outlaw 1050 to pick up the raved Panasonic XR45 too!

I am running it off an old pair of Rock Solids.

I couldn't be happier.

I'm thinking of ordering one of these also.  I have a friend who just bought a 5.0 speaker package and has a pair of the old Ubid Michaura M55s he'd sell me for $60, so for $189 sounds like I could have a decent bedroom system.  Hard to believe!

However, I did notice there are a bunch of similar Sharp systems with the 1-bit technology (and SD-something model numbers) and they look similar.  Wonder which is the best to look for.  Don't need speakers, but there are also cheap receivers.

I just bought one from www.minidisco.com/sd-sg11.html.  They have half price two day shipping and no handling charges.  Buy.com has really high handling charges, even though they claim their shipping is free.  It was only $139 shipped from Minidisco versus $156+ from buy.com.

I needed something for the kitchen anyway and this one looks cool.  Will keep you posted.  Thanks for the suggestion!

It says, Made in Malaysia.

Crap, I should've mention this earlier:  When you order from Buy.com, at the checkout, be sure to pick the 7-9 days delivery for free shipping.  It defaults to the standard shipping for approx $24.00.  I paid $137 after tax (Why did they have to reside in CA?!).

I received mines in less than 5 days, so I guess it all depends.

Update:

Found a small glitch.   Sometimes, the up/down tuner preset button will not work.  To get it working again, hold down the display button to change the LCD color scheme.  Choose the same color or a different color, and voila!   The preset up/down will effect tuner's presets and MD Rec Level.  When it is disabled, you can still punch in a direct # to get to your preset.

No longer available from Buy.com.  However a 1-bit system with speakers is available for 149.99.  It comes without the minidisc though.

Ok, found another place for $129.00.  Not sure of their shipping fees, but this is better than ordering it from Minidisco.com for $149.00.

Anyone get theirs yet?  Impressions?

And it doesn't have the separate AMP module.  I check on ebay and it looks like everyone is discounting these products... but nice find.

Hmm...could be a good pairing with those Omage AV-21 speakers that have been getting great reviews for under $100 pair.   Don't need more stereos...must...resist...temptation.

Holy cow, mine haven't arrived yet (I ordered two) but I had a chance to listen to the Sharp when I happened upon it at my local Mid-fi store.  Hooked up to an easy load Klipsch bookshelf speaker, (RB-3, 149.00 each)
well it sounded pretty audiophile to me.  I was shocked.  I've never really liked Klipsch (well maybe 25 years ago) but this was a rockin' combo.  Large sweet spot, great vocals, nice extension, surprisingly good detail, but above all very musical, captured the emotion.  I can't believe we can't create more of a buzz about this Sharp.  I know the Panasonic digital is flavor of the moment right now, but this is the ultimate bedroom/kitchen system for ridiculously cheap price.  Anyone thinking of a small system (well I was surprised it ain't that small, but small enough) needs to hop on this baby now as they're flying out the door.  Oh yeah, it looks cool as hell too.  I currently have one of those Denon/Mission combos at work right now.  You know the one that Stereophile and Absolute Sound claimed as the only mini-system to buy a year or two ago.  Well the Sharp is lightyears ahead of that, and that's no psycho-babble, overly enthusiastic, pre-owner, justify my purchase speak.

Peace Love Dope

Tbadder1, what type of speaker connectors does it have?  I suppose binding posts is outta the question at the size/price...
