Please help with Red Dragon model 1 mini amps
« on: 26 Feb 2008, 02:16 am »
Does anyone know what the input impedance is for the Red Dragon model 1 mini amps?  Or if its high or low from what a normal load is?  Thanks for any help you can provide.

A simple search brought me to this thread which says they have a 10k ohm input impedance.

Thanks Gaara for the information.  I didn't realize there were any specifications for this model posted.  Now I just need to know whether that is considered low compare to your average power amp?  The preamp I want to use does not like low impedance loads.
Anyone?

I would say it is a little on the low side.  Most amps seem to be closer to the 25k-30k range.  Off the top of my head the following amps I have used fall in that range:  Earthquake Cinenova Grande, Parasound Halo A23, Rotel RB-1070, PS Audio Trio, etc.

Thanks.  I will try them and hope a compatable union with the BAT preamp.  Supposedly the BAT does not work well with low impedance loads but what does Stereophile know, anyways.  Thanks for your help.

Since you took an interest I will let you know I found that the minimum input impedance of the amplifier according to BAT is 10k ohm, so I am at the absolute minimum with the Red Dragons.  Not exactly the compatability I was hoping for but I will try it never the less. Thanks again.
