  Real world people,will 5--6--7 grand do it,top out at 7500 at the most,used is better than good for me.. ???? How much do ya really need to spend on a player to get the majority bang-for-buck.Also,any recommendations would be nice.As now the system stands----Opus 21 GNSC-VAC Ren pre--DNA500-- feeding a set of Bobs Revs MK3 speakers.This buy would be the last for a long-long time    any thoughts thks  Pat

     Well, I guess what is real world to some is another man's fantasy world.

     Man! In my current real world, my CD play back... Sony 5 discs SACD/CD changer + DIY DAC... cost me total of about $475  But I'm happy with it.

If you haven't considered it..for that kind of scratch. I would be looking into hard drive based systems. You get more flexibility than any CD player can provide.

 The world of Dacs is at your finger tips. You could swap out Dacs at will, until you find the sound you're looking for. Not to mention how much fun you'll have doing it.

This buy would be the last for a long-long time

Yes...it is. I still have my cdp/dac combo...still spinning the Cds like you....but I have heard a few computer systems...and they sound good.

Thats where its leading.....its in the wind.....



Waiting for the Mini-TP's......but I have my TP's to keep me company...

I have listened to a lot of CDP/DAC/transport from $5k to $20k (Wadia, Esoteric, EMM Lab, Meridian, ARC, MBL..I can't count all of them). They all sound different, system matching is still the most important thing, so be careful with what you buy. Never buy because of big discount, never buy because of rave reviews, you gotta find a way to audition them. Unless, of course, you have tons of money to burn (as you're getting the Revelation, you probably do possess deep pocket!)

I have audiophile friends that claim they get great sound and have compared their computer setup to the very best box players (20-30k) and the sound differences were negligible
