Hi Lin,

Those look pretty interesting. If they produce too much bass for that room, I suppose I could always put some foam in the port. Should work fine in that small room.

Are you coming into town anyway? I'd hate to have you make a special trip and not be able to hang out for a while. The event should be loads of fun.

.....Oh, and for those that need it, I'll be posting my address and a map sometime very soon.

DIRECTIONS

Hiya Guys,

Here is a link to Google Maps for my house. One MAJOR item of note, all of the map programs show Brookview Lane (my street) connecting to highway 100 (Manchester). It doesn't. You will have to go a couple of hundred feet past where they show Brookview to Thornton, make a left, go down to Brook Valley, then make a left onto Brookview. My house is the last driveway on the right. I say driv3eway because my house sits about 300-400 feet off the subdivision road behind what looks like the last house (on the right).

If you happen to be coming out 100 from Wildwood/Ellisville for the first time, 100 turns into a narrow, slightly windy section for a couple of miles. As you wind around the turns, look for a large white cell phone tower disguised as a flagpole (there is a huge flag on it and its lit at night). It sits on the corner of 100 and Thornton road (where you want to turn).

Map to my house

When it comes to parking, we can fit about nine cars up by the house comfortably. As soggy as its been over the last week, I wouldn't park in my front yard unless you want to call a tow truck after your car sinks up to its axles. Feel free to park along the subdivision road, just be sure to pull far enough off to let the neighbors get through. Don't forget to leave some space so they can back out of their driveways. Last thing you want is to have your car dented. Also, you can pull up the hill just past my neighbor across the street. There is enough room up there for about five or six cars if you pull off to one side so others can get through (its a dead end).

There shouldn't be too much of an issue getting everybodys car parked. If need be, we can park at one of the businesses down the road and shuttle back and forth.

We still haven't heard from some of the regulars/new guys and whether you are going to make it.

Hey Scott.

Looks like we'll have a new toy to play with.  My wife managed to snag me one of Wayne's new Nirvanna power supplies for the SB3 with the AKSA pre-reg circuit.  I also have his latest solid silver DC cable (thanks Wayne!).

I'll bring it over to play with and compare if anyone wants to.  I'll also bring my older modded Rev 1 power supply to use in the small room upstairs and an older DC cable.

Looking forward to it.

Want me to give Turbo and Chris from BPT a call?

Bryan

Great news on the power supply. Sounds like Santa came a little early. Wayne sent out some power cords from the TweekGeek. According to Zybar, MikeG and Wayne, these are supposed to be the bees knees.

Hey, if you want to give turbo and Chris a call, that would be great  :thumb:

Know who I forgot from the list?.....Alex

from what I've seen we all own at the very least three pairs of speakers not including table radio's, headphones, computer speakers, garage system etc....

The Scottish guy may be the only exception but I'm guessing he has a closet full of interconnects, power cords and speaker wire.

Speaking of amps- Bryan- do you have a pic of the Korato 100 watt Class A amp?

With Scott's party right around the corner  I was hoping to share my madness with all of you but I may just have to keep mum now.

Hi Lin,

How do you think they would work in a 9x11 room with minimal treatments (first reflections only)? Would they be too much speaker for that room?

Reason I ask is the two big rooms have 7 and 2.5 watts of amplification. I don't think either of those rooms would amps would support your speakers. In the small room we'll be using the factory modified JoLida 102b. It does a fine job driving difficult loads.

Hello Scott....

Sounds like a good party coming up this weekend...hello to all....hope everyone has a great time at your place.

I'll be at the Rave at Phil's this weekend....so....I was wondering....while you have Lin's Mini-TP's there....maybe you could give them a little time in your large room....a quick listen....just to see how they do in a wide open space. I'd be curious....

Nothing fancy....set them up....power on-larger amp....play some tunes....comment on what you hear.

Thanks......and have a great time.....

Doesn't look good for me on the 15th. I have a meeting with my architect (plans are 99.9% done!) early afternoon, and I have a private party gig requiring an early set up. Sorry to miss it. However, I should be able to post some drawings soon.

Hiya Chris,

Let me see what I can do. I might be able to pull the Radii's (100wpc KT88's) out and get them worked into one of the systems. I need to go though them first. I haven't started them since they we the recipient of a flood (a p-trap that let loose) from the kitchen above them. I don't think there should be any issues since they were unplugged and just got wet but I really should open the cans, inspect and then bring them up slowly on the variac just to make sure.

Thanks for the holiday wishes. Hope you guys can still have your Rave with that nor'easter headed your way.  :o

I just talked to Chris Hough.  His daughter has a softball banquet for her select team on Saturday.  Chris said he's going to try to make it out but it will be later in the evening.

Turbo has something going too and isn't sure if he'll make it. Again, if he does it will be later on.

Hey Scott,

What time do the doors open tomorrow?

I'm gonna bring the Lowther drivers, Wolverine drivers, Senn HD-575 cans, a dozen or so cd's the fella's may enjoy, oh and my pillow and blanky. You need / want me to bring anything else? Any food or drink or do you have that pretty well covered?

Mark,

You can come down anytime (say after 10). We'll just be doing last minute cleaning, cooking and that sort of stuff. but you are more than welcome to show up early. We've got the actual event starting around 2pm.....and now for the not so good news.....

WEATHER ALERT - 4PM Friday UPDATE

This just in from the National Weather Service (noaa.gov)

Tonight: Occasional snow, mainly after midnight. Low around 26. East wind between 8 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Saturday: Occasional snow. High near 29. North wind between 13 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Saturday Night: Occasional snow before midnight. Low around 18. North wind around 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

There are a few things you need to take into consideration when coming out to the house. First and foremost, Thornton Road. Thornton is on the easternmost edge of Franklin County which translates into being the last road plowed/salted. Most of you have driven from 44 up that big hill. That same hill turns into an extreme sport during snow events. My suggestion is to avoid it at all cost (honest to goodness, trust me on this one).

ALTERNATE ROUTE
For those coming out 44, pass up the Pacific Exit (257) and go to the Gray Summit/Highway 100 Exit (253). This will be the next exit off southbound 44. Make a right turn and go about 3 1/2 miles to the topside of Thornton Road. At this intersection you will see the cell phone tower disguised as a flagpole that is visible from my driveway. Also there is a big white, delapitated barn right next to the flagpole. Make a right on Thornton (watch it, it will be slippery too) and go down the hill about 1/4 mile to Brook Valley (my subdivision entrance) and make a left then come back to the house as usual.

Although we will have snow tomorrow, the event will still go on. I'll leave it up to you guys whether you feel comfortable out on the roads. My road predictions are this, major highways will be fine (wet but fine), Hwy 100 will be sloppy but not in too bad of shape, Thornton Road will be unplowed/unsalted and snow packed. It will be very slick so take your time coming down the hill. On the way out it gets a little tricky. Go back up to 100 to exit. In doing so, you NEED to take a run at the hill (the center section is over a 30% slope). Don't think you will get up it by crawling and being cautious. You need to attack the hill at better than 35 MPH and coast your way up it. I've been driving that hill for over 20 winters know and its the only way to get up it without getting stuck (if its snow packed).

The subdivision will likely not be plowed for the first part of the event but should be done sometime mid-evening. It will likely be slick but passable. My driveway will definitely be slick. The same guy that does the subdivision does my driveway. My suggestion, wear shoes that get traction. Of course I'll have the topside by the house clean and salted but hand shoveling 400' of driveway only insures my premature death.

Again, please don't park completely on the grass as you will definitely sink and get stuck. We buried a bucket lift up to its axles at work last night (twice) and we're not sure we can get a wrecker back to get it. It could sit there for a few weeks until things dry up some.

For those driving four-wheelers, this is why you bought them.....have fun!

8) WOO! HOO! ..... You gave the option for "normal route", then "easy route", but I don't see the "dumbass with a four-by route".
Some of us actually LIKE driving in the white stuff.  :icon_twisted:

For those of you that Scott has scared the Hell out of, I'll volunteer to shuttle from the gas station down the street from Scotts, and drive you up to his house.
Let me know.

Thanks for the heads-up regarding the weather Scott!  :thumb:
