This is a unfinishised modular rack with adjustable spikes on each tier. The usable space of each tier is 22 inches wide by 17 .5 deep with a shelf spacing of 7 inches which can be adjusted slightly with the spikes. The overall height is 40 inches. Feel free to call me at 605-352-3461 for additional information. I am asking 999.00 for the unit plus shipping and will accept money order, checks and paypal for payment. Don't all call me at once!

Hello, It is made out of pine.  It stains up more beautifully than any other wood I have used.  It needs to move so let's go on this!

Personally I'm not interested in Pine, but considering it's unfinished and not a quality hardwood, I'd estimate it's value at $200 - $250.

It's a finely detailed and crafted modular audio rack with some very nice features. Handcrafted here in the U.S.A..  Tried to cover some of the lower - mid end market however have learned this can not be done in the US and still maintain a high level of quality. It's up for grabs and I would appreciate and entertain your offers. Let me know if you would like some detailed photos. This is completely modular with removable bolt on legs with threaded inserts in the legs, adjustable spikes on each leg and sanded ready to finish. The Pine wood was chosen primarily for its stain taking ability especially with the dark cherry finish and secondary for a small price incentive. This rack needs to go!

Huh? The softwood nature of pine makes staining difficult.. now if all you use is a miniwax gel or some hybrid dye and pigment stain then it'll come out okay, but to whoever attempts to stain this without proper knowledge may ended up with a blotchy mess...

What's the shelf construction?  Is it oak plywood with pine edge trim?

The tops are Birch plywood wraped with pine via biskit joints. The corners have hardwood gussets and are drilled to accept a threaded bolt that hold the legs on. I suppose it is always possible to screw up the stain or any part of the finish for that matter, however I have never had any problems with this using pine. The upside on finishing your own may be a better or more accurate match of finish if you are trying to match your own furniture. Also some people may have a sense of pride in screwing their own stuff up. This is what the rack looks like finished in the dark cherry.

Hello MM,
I will say the craftsmanship looks to be first rate and it is a fine looking piece. I think your only drawback is that it is made of Pine which most audiophiles would not consider the best approach for an audio rack.

In regard to finishing, quality furniture grade Pine (not cheap eaither) does very well at accepting stains as is apparent in your finished piece. I would say the $200-$300 estimate may be a bit low just based on the materials and labor alone. My guess would be in the $400-$500 area unfinsihed and around $600 with finished applied. It really is a nice design. Have you considered doing this rack in a Maple or Birch? You obviously have the skills

Don't be concerned with trying to compete as I feel there are still many out there that are willing to pay for high quality MADE IN THE USA craftsmanship.

Where are you located?

That might help people estimate how much shipping costs would run.

I'm located at Huron, South Dakota 57350. Is the Audio Market slow to borderline non existent lately or is there some other reason for the lack of intrest on this rack?  Make me an offer, tell me what your want, let me know what I need to do to move this rack.

The market is very slow at this time of the year.

Since you asked about what you should do to move this rack...

If you want to move this rack, then drop the price. $1000 for this unfinished rack may be a tad expensive for some folks. About 1/2 that for an unfinished rack and anywhere from $600 for a finished one seems like a decent price. In fact, I bet if you throw a nice finish on it, it will have a higher likelihood of selling.
Something to ponder

Best,
Anand.

I agree with much of what has been said.

1. Workmanship looks very good
2. People will pay a higher price for USA made quality products

But I would be surprised if THIS rack sells for anywhere near what you think it's worth because it's made of pine.

Oak, Maple, Ash, Cherry, Mesquite - any of these hardwoods would probably get the response you're looking for.

Guys I feel the need to chime in here and add my 2 cents......

Jeff built me a TT stand based on this design.  A single platform.  Nice, really nice
craftsmanship.  Finished it in semi gloss black a very difficult finish to get "right"
and he did a first rate job.  But I think most important, I was able to load the stand
with sand & lead shot in the compartment.  What did I get?  A well built piece of eye
candy that works like a charm at a very reasonable price.

I can certainly recommend his designs and craftsmanship.

Thanks for allowing me the space for a comment.
