Thank you for the compliment Gerald, I appreciate that. I've evidently made a bad mistake for the majority by using pine on this rack regardless of how beautiful it can be finished. The price was established by the amount of time and materials invested in the rack and this rack can not and will not be produced by me for less than my asking price. This is not to say who is right and I am definetely not condemning anyone for any advice or offers, in fact I appreciate that imensely as without your input I would have no idea of the racks value. I do believe there is much more to this than the price however. I had high hopes this rack would fill a void in the lower to mid market and offer the same basic characterisics and qualities as the more expensive racks in the hardwoods with extra features and make the rack affordable  for that price range. Due to the expense of quality hand labor and time and materials this appears not to be possible. I appreciate everyones input to date and will continue to keep my ears open and welcome your input. If anyone has a intrest in the rack please feel free to make an offer.

Hey Musicalmaniac,

You might have more luck selling the rack finished as you have done with the picture in your previous post.  The finished rack looks very sharp  :thumb:

I would assume that many of the people willing to buy an unfinished rack would also be the same people that are willing to make their own rack.  A finished rack opens the market to those that don't have the skill and/or time and/or tools to finish their own rack.

All the best with the sale.

 HI MM,
Another thing to consider here is that you are in the most difficult part of the selling season. Summer is a bit dry for audio with people busy with their summer activities as well as getting the little ones ready to go back to school.

I have 3 of 4 children going back to school this Wednesday and can tell you that between the list from the schools and school clothes, it adds up.  :duh:
Not to mention you are in the middle of a Holiday weekend.

 Patients my friend, patients.

Anybody in the market or looking for a component rack? Tell me what you're looking for in a rack, what do you perceive as good value as far as a rack goes?

This is a start, and I thank you for that. Now can we get a bit more sincere?

Bargain means I offer, you counter offer, I counter-counter offer, you huff and puff and counter-counter-counter offer, I say no deal and threaten to walk away but make a counter-counter-counter-counter offer and you get pissed.  At this point, you curse my ancestors and strike a deal or I really walk away.  8) 8) 8)

You are not following the script.  :green:

Alright, $300, w/ a dark cherry finish. It's pine, so I wouldn't use it as an audio rack, but my wife has been looking for something to display her curios and Swarski crystal collection on.

Thanks for the offers to date, I appreciate your time and consideration on this rack. I'm looking for someone that can appreciate it for what it is, the fact is 300.00 would put the finish on it and that's about it,unless of course you would accept a sloppy stain job and call it done.  The laquer finish I use is a very time consuming process. The rack is made out of premium selected Pine wood choosen for it's beautiful finish possibilities. Birch plywood is used for the top and is biskit jointed to the sides or styles. The legs incorporate a threaded insert and are fastened to the individulal tiers via a machine screw through a hardwood gusset in each corner. Each leg has a adjustable spike that allows for precise leveling and adjustment of each tier. There are many hours envolved in this rack and the quality shows this. This really needs to be viewed in person to really appreciate it.   I understand we are all looking for value, we just all perceive this a little differently.  I'm open to trades as well.  Am I bargaining correctly here?

You know, I don't think any of us are denying you the quality of workmanship.  It's just that this is an audio forum and you got pine.  Stir up the pot and discuss why pine and birch plywood combo is good for audio like they did with maple butcher block.  Better yet, prove that pine has no resonance in the audio frequency and has very good sonic damping characteristics and people will pay what you ask.  Good luck.

BTW, you haven't named a counter offer yet.
