My advice is to find a nice shop out in the sticks where the hillbillies live. They bought records but didn't play them much. aaW
I sort of thank god I've been using a Rega tonearm for so long because it really doesn't allow me to do much in terms of tweaking. Once that cartridge is aligned and I have an approximate VTA, there is not much else for me to do aside from maybe fooling with anti-skate or VTF, but I don't really bother with those once I'm in the recommended parameters for these.
Hard to be gratified, though, when one has a new turntable system and no records.
eric the redExactly, now your a guy I respect. When you find a gold mine...you like to keep it a little quite. This place in my town has about 10,000 albums priced between $2.00 and $20.00 and I have brought home so many classics that are in the most perfect shape. If I were to go into the cities, I think the selection would be well picked over.W
I've bought lots of used vinyl and most is near mint if not mint condition. Yes, you have to take it out of the sleeve and look at it before you buy, and no, you can't always tell if there are pops and clicks. With proper cleaning and degausing, almost all records can be brought into listenable shape. Wear is another story. My advice is to find a nice shop out in the sticks where the hillbillies live. Marbels, or lack there of, I don't understand your point. Are you mad at me because I found a treasure of LP's to pick up at my leasure or do you think I stupid because of....what? I guess I don't know.
Let's compare hifi systems. I have 6. 3 of them are state of the art Audio by Van Alstine. Are you ready.
Just because you spend lots of money doesn't mean you have SOA. AVA has been at quite a few shows and many were very impressed. Dollars don't equal quality. And Zybar, who cares? I don't.
