Mannnnn, I never realized how much of a mess she really is.  :shake: I mean I listen to her albums and i don't see this side of her. Then I see those utube crapola shots of her,,,,, the real her and it makes me wanta barf. Especially the one with her and Charlette Church,,, Charlette being all clear and Amy slurin' away,,,, paaaaathetic. Thank you but I'll stick with her 2 good albums and just take it for granted there won't be anymore.

Thanks J'man for opening my eyes,,, this  sad news just ruined my day and finished this thread for me.

Cheerless,
Robin

Hey Guys,

This is probably an indicator of my tastes (or lack thereof), but my intention was to show Amy's talent by posting the links to Youtube.  I think she sounds good in all of the clips I posted and I really like her music and overall vibe.  I'm from the old school and don't mind if my musicians are a little tipsy, as long as they can keep it together.  Amy is very young and obviously dealing with some issues.  I still think she sounded pretty good until the recent concerts (especially Manchester), where the train kind've came off the track.  Hopefully, she can return to form and lose some of the bad habbits...but retain some of her rawness and edgyness (dirtyness?).

Anyway, no worries, we all have different preferences and that's what makes life interesting.  For the record, I would rather see Amy Winehouse (the semi-sober version, not the full-tilt stumbling version) perform than some of the generic performers that seem to be so popular with audiophiles.

Cheers,

Jack

This is singer Amy Winehouse who won a Brit Award for best "Urban Act" in 2004 and now. The Nicole Ritchie heroin diet appears to be getting quite popular.
Winehouse: "I drink a lot and sometimes forget to eat".

Picked up "Frank" today, not bad but not as good as "Back to Black"  She definitely sounds like she's come into her own on B2B compared to "Frank"

Oh goodness, seeing those photos, poor girl looks like she's dying a slow death.

OK, on the disc photos for "Frank" is she rolling a joint?

Singer/songwriter/trainwreck Amy Winehouse isn’t going to rehab anytime soon — The Sun got ahold of her rider for her recent Glastonbury show, and it’s all liquor all the time. According to the British paper, Winehouse’s wish list includes the following:

    2 bottles of red wine
    1 large bottle of vodka
    1 bottle of champagne
    1 bottle of brandy
    1 case of lager
    40 Marlboro Lights
    chocolate
    3 “good quality” HOT pizzas

Winehouse also requested “two competent, sober local crew,” and noted that if the pizzas are not hot, “the band will refuse them.”

Sounds like a party.....

I think she is a rare find.  She straight up communicates, raw and true to her story whatever the song is about.  And she rhymes well.  That can't be easy.  I think she has some of Billie Holiday in her.

I never realized it but Amy's slurring allover the place in her Back To Black album. Now that I've seen what kind of a sleeze she really is, it's not hard to pick up on the flakeyness in her voice. It's like a night/day difference betwwen her earlier Frank and Back To Black, I just never noticed. Now I can't miss it after seeing/hearing all those slurfests of her on youtube.  I think she was a rare find.  :nono:

Personal problems aside I was really disappointed with her DVD(I told you I was trouble) - one of the most boring concert DVDs I've ever seen. She just stands there stiff as a board with a couple of black guys who dance like white accountants and mumbles a few words, of no consequence, between each song while you anticipate the turning point when the show takes off - it never comes.

It took two listening sessions to really appreciate Back to Black (on LP, of course ), but WOW what an album it is!  Really, a unique artist entity she is.

Such a tragic way to lead an utterly creative lifeforce....
