The Looks is OK !
The Bass is OK !

But anyone with a good B200 OB is definitely in the business with the rest.

Although biased towards the Nordic light coloured woods
I have to admit that your panels look absolutely gorgeous.
And they probably sound as good.

Thanks Erling,

Oil darkened the wood much more than I wanted, but the woods down here are generally
darker than up in your area. I want to find a guitar maker and learn how to finish properly
and better retain the natural wood tones. I doubt that I have the patience for french
polishing, so a spray rig and nitro lacquer is probably up my alley.

Erling,
No use borrowing inspiration if you aren't going to make improvements. I can't
wait to measure edge diffraction vs a flat rectangular baffle like the wood started.

Thanks, but construction was actually easier than proper assembly, but as you
can tell, I had an Erector Set as a kid. The baffle itself was just 2 angled cuts
out of a rectangular board, put the scraps to work, and made the driver cutouts.

Don't know if it is helpful, but I just found out my JAMO distributor carries the R909.

Didn't realize it was so "pricey" @ $7499 "each"

Seriously though, I wouldn't be comfortable shipping solid wood stateside, since
I don't know what effect sitting in a container in full sun might do. That's the
kind of thing I'll have to investigate and test before exporting anything. I know
someone who exports solid wood doors to Canada from here, so I'll discuss it
with him. I've determined that for me the B200 needs a tweeter, so more mods
to come before they're worthy of sale in my eyes....Something a lot less than
Jamo's price and guaranteed better sounding.

I wasn't in the market, just curious since I know you sell a pair now and then what these beauties would go for.
Yea, It'd suck to have a mad buyer and a cracked useless product and lots of shipping cost, all due to getting 'cooked' in the sun.

There would be a slight problem copying the R909.
Those big woofers have a tuned frequency response to counter the loss at lower frequency.
And they have som awfully strong magnets to make this happen...
Even with equalizing circuits it just would not be enough omph in a other 15 incher...that you could buy.
You would need more than two!
I think it would be a "no go" on the account of no drivers to be had at all, that could survive the needed
lowfrequency boost you would have to run.
Any takers on this notion?

As some of my younger friends would say WHATEVER.
I have not seen any published specs (none on Jamo website?) but I know of quite a few folks that have enjoyed the 30-40hz range with "simple" OB speakers.

There was an article, not in english (in swedish), that in detail explained how the bassdrivers are made, and their specs, and the problems with using others in a likewise baffle.
But of course, who cares, and I dont have the magazine anymore. (it was Hifi&musik)

I saw them, and the bass drivers were B&C, and I would imagine they were off the shelf, because what I have read and what I have experienced are almost always different. The very fact that they were using these drivers, however, indicated an interest in using the "best." Their choices above those drivers, I personally wonder about....

beyond that, they are fabulous looking, and relatively easy to copy in my view.

As I wrote earlier these speakers are OK for OBs, not as outstanding as some reviews might make you think. I have heard them only
under Show conditions.

To copy them you would have to have really efficient bass-speakers (suitable for OB), which hold god efficiency down into the 50 Hz range and show a rising
response in the upper bass, I think. None of the standard B&C chassis seem to fit the bill.

Then you pair this bass foundation with less efficient (but superb) midranges-/tweeters. At least this is the way Jamo did it.
