Hey all,

Just got some email from Nicholas. He's now mounting the switches directly to the front panel. He says it sounds better and doesn't know why. I emailed him with the question as to how was that done. How much of the shaft of the switch did he have to take off?

I'll keep you in tune as soon as I know anything else.

Well, the actual quote from his email is:

"I found a better idea in the future, I will be directly mounting the switches to the chassis next time. Some how the sound is better
Don’t know why though"

So I assume it's on standoffs? and not mounted to the front panel? Or is it the other way around.

I have a power energizer and find it a welcomed, if not indispensable, addition.  Bass is more tuneful, tighter, punchier and treble seems smoother without loss of extension.  The PE is truly remarkable--I liken it to having a dedicated 20 amp circuit for a tenth of the cost.  I will post more later time permitting.

Hi Rollo thanks my friend. Yeah I can't believe the hits and replies either!!  :o I hope other manufactures get on the boat and offer such great performance for the price. I've been searching the net for companies like Promitheus Audio. There are a few out there..you just have to look really hard for them. :D

good to check.

How are you using your Power Energizer - is it plugged into a power strip, or are components plugged directly into the PE, or is the PE plugged into a wall socket all by itself, etc? :?:

I've tried various configurations and found plugging the Power Energizer directly into my power conditioner along side other components provided for the most expansive soundstage I've experienced to date with the benefits I mentioned previously.  Another aspect I neglected to mention, which was true of all of the various configurations, was the utter silence the Power Energizer 'introduces.'  All background noise/hiss disappears.  I have to turn the volume on my tube preamp I all the way up (about 5 o'clock, where 6 o'clock is no sound and most music is played at 9-10 o'clock) to hear anything.  Music also seems louder and more natural, more live.

Been listening to my new TVC for the past couple of days in utter amazement. The sound has exceeded my expectations. Tremendous tonality, detail, and realism. This is my best audio purchase, to date.

I'm speechless. There's nothing more to say...

Early B,
The best is yet to come, good to hear its going on for you.Burn in with Volume control set 2 or 3 clicks back from full gain.
Which version to you buy?The best part of the presentation to me is the natural way it handles sibilance of the human voice, not exaggerated, hyped up or artificial.

HAPPY LISTENING AND GOOD LUCK        rollo

I've built the GB150.  It's a superb amplifier.

You're absolutely right! The one review I read, there was some possible issues with the power supply. Other than that one review, this is why I too want to build the 300D amp.

I've got the GB150 and 300D kit for almost 7 months now and have not yet finished yet,  I sent the GB150 that I started to a friend to tap out the heatsinks and chassis its going on but he's been so busy that I haven't gotten it back yet :x   I should give him a call and see whats going on.  I probably would have been better for me to get a press and tap kit and do it myself :duh:

Hi Wendell,

Give me a couple of months, and if you haven't started your 300 yet, would like to buy it from you. You bought it with the stuffed boards?

My apologies if it has been asked previously in this 70 page thread....   but has anyone tried the hybrid amps?

Hi, I don't remember either. But I figure no issues. If you buy one, and it doesn't work for you, trust me, it would be snapped up in an instant.

Just curious --

When I opened the TVC, I noticed the copper wires are tie wrapped. Can someone explain why the performance of the TVC is not affected by all of the wires touching each other?

Thanks.

Good question. I would think if they weren't the inside of the case would be a mess.

Hi,

I thought that way too after opening up my TVC. Then I think of a layman's thought that because it is a passive preamp (no electricity goes through). So it is a matter of signal going through like a magnetic field. Therefore, you do not worry about why?
