Actually Cocobola is the worst wood to try and finish. But he already has it all epoxied!!

Just waiting to see how the laser affects it.

Hi All, These pics are of the first 1 of the preamps to be done. It is the sample pieces I got this past Saturday. Everything fit right on like it was supposed to. It looks incredible, it isn't perfect there are some small flaws and it looks much better for real than the pics look! Heres this weeks update. First I got these samples to get 1 finished, This week by Wednesday Pete will have all of the preamp faceplates to Bill who is ready to engrave all of them. Meanwhile Pete is final buffing and polishing all of the preamp sides. He says he will finish them about the same time that Bill finishes the engraving. I will then recieve all of the preamp parts and the balanced power supply parts will follow very soon after that. I will have the amps parts sometime after the balanced power supply parts. I should get remotes at the same time I get preamp parts at least some of them to get me started shipping preamps. So it looks pretty good so far. They are getting very close now, and I have been keeping you all up to date with as much info as I have. Check the pics out. The preamps are very awsome!! I am impressed!

BTW I know you are wondering who gets this preamp well it goes to the first guy on the list who wanted curly maple.

Oh, I forgot to mention the laser engraving on the epoxy was perfect. That was part of the test, it was done on cocobola it, passed, now on to the finish!! YEA!!!!

I don't want to speak for Gary, but I spoke with him last week and he explained the remote "parts" are done... however, the housing for the remote is wood as well...

Thus the wood housing for the remote needs to be "finished" as well as the other woodwork... I think he was planning on all of the parts arriving to him around the same time.

The preamps look stellar Gary! I hope they sound better than they look, and we will all be deeply exhaling!

I am happy that all of the people that I brought to this project have shown their craftmanship. Pete is a great finisher, Bill knows how really get the most out of his laser engraving system. The length of time to execute each stage was far more labor intensive than Pete or I ever thought. All of Dodd Audio amps, preamps and power supplies will be very special, very special indeed.

I would like to have a gathering of all that have nade this possible soon. I think that all of us should be proud of the final units! One thing for sure, these pieces will be one of a kind in both sound and visual excellence. All woods were sorted by me to ensure the best figure, superb color and tantalyzing grain patterns of each species.

I wish I could have seen the final samples. The photos let me see what my mind envisioned and how it has came to fruition.

I have no plans to buy one of these, and I generally don't care for wood cases, but I just have to say holy cow is that one beautiful piece of kit. VERY nice job on the aesthetics!
