I am on the market for another new tube preamp, so this one is another candidate for me.

Thanks

If the new Dodd battery preamp is as good or better than the Dodd Reference Linestage you are going to be some happy audiophiles.  I just recently picked up the Dodd Reference linestage and have to say I am done looking for a preamp.  I am absolutely thrilled with the sound and ability to roll 6sn7 tubes to tailor the sound to my taste.  The build quality is really special.  I am a Dodd Audio believer. :thumb:

Hi All, These pics are of the first 1 of the preamps to be done. It is the sample pieces I got this past Saturday. Everything fit right on like it was supposed to. It looks incredible, it isn't perfect there are some small flaws and it looks much better for real than the pics look! Heres this weeks update. First I got these samples to get 1 finished, This week by Wednesday Pete will have all of the preamp faceplates to Bill who is ready to engrave all of them. Meanwhile Pete is final buffing and polishing all of the preamp sides. He says he will finish them about the same time that Bill finishes the engraving. I will then recieve all of the preamp parts and the balanced power supply parts will follow very soon after that. I will have the amps parts sometime after the balanced power supply parts. I should get remotes at the same time I get preamp parts at least some of them to get me started shipping preamps. So it looks pretty good so far. They are getting very close now, and I have been keeping you all up to date with as much info as I have. Check the pics out. The preamps are very awsome!! I am impressed! :green:
BTW I know you are wondering who gets this preamp    well it goes to the first guy on the list who wanted curly maple. :D
Gary

Gary, it's been 10 days since your last post, any updates you can share with us?

Thanks

Not to speak for Gary, but the laser engraver dropped by my shop last Saturday to let me have a look at one of the preamp facve plates (not curly Maple).  He told me that he hoped to have them completed by the weekend at the latest.

Man time flies when your having so much fun! Actually I picked up all of the preamp faceplates yesterday. Pete says he will be finished with all of the sides and remotes by the end of this week. Next week I will start to assemble the preamps and the remotes and start shipping the same week if i run into NO problems.
I was going to post pics pf the faceplates today, but I need to get some better light to really show them off. Man are they gorgeous!! :green:. I will try and do that tomorrow sometime. Check back tomorrow and the pics will be here for all to see!

Gary just sent me these pics. The lighting was not good and most of the dark woods were too dark to see. So I went in an lightened up the pics and took a little of the Blue out of them. Obviously the pics don't do them justice, but they still look pretty good.

Sorry for being a day late with the pics. I could not get them to look any better, but I'm not a photographer. I will give you the species in the order they are presented.
Quilted Maple
Birdseye Maple
Mesquite
Spalted Sycamore  (my personel don't ask for it)
Sapele
Curly Maple
Quarter sawn Sycamore
Cocobola
Figured Bubinga
Bloodwood
Granadillo
Mexican Bocote
Leopardwood
Rosewood/Morado
These are the woods used to make the first run. In future runs I will probably only offer 2 woods, Maples and rosewoods. It is hard to obtain some of these woods and they cost tons and are very hard to work with on the finish. Cocobola and bloodwood and the Bubinga are very hard to work with. These pics don't do them any justice at all. Also I am picking up all of the side pieces and the remotes this weekend and I will be putting these together starting Monday. I will start shipping them as soon as I get somedone. I would like for all of you who purchased a preamp, and who reads this to email me your shipping info so I can calculate the shipping costs and know where to send them. I will be sending them out in the order they are on the list. Another week and you will be starting to recieve preamps,FINALLY!!! :green: :green:

New run of preamps are in the works now. I have sold 25 pieces to a dealer and I am taking orders now. This time around and from now on I am only going to offer them in Maples and Rosewoods, this is still a wide range. Some of the exotics are very hard to work with and cost too much. Depending on how many I sell and how quickly depends on the lead times. I expect to start shipping some of these in late December, early January. All of the production problems have been ironed out and it will be much better from now on. Also I am letting everyone interested know that I will have the entire new line of DODD products at the RMAF in a few weeks. :green: I am also trying to have some extras to sell at the show. Any wishing to see it stop by have a look and a listen.

This is for everyone who has purchased the battery preamp. I am in trouble!  I am putting together preamps in the order they were purchased, but i forgot who wanted what extra VAMPIRE connectors. I know what Marbles wants, But ther are 3 more with a extra set on the 2nd input and 1 that has 2 extra sets, 1 on the 2nd input, and the other on the 2nd set of outputs. Please let me know if possibel quickly. I will be shipping 10+ of these midweek (TUE-WED). I don't wnat to ship the wrong preamp to someone who didn't ask for it. Thanks guys I hope I get this figured out soon.

Gary sent me this pic several days back. I am just now able to post it as I was in the middle of transferring my web site to a new server. It still isn't up and running properly, but I can now upload pics again.

I just wish I could see all of these pre-amps in person before they ship. Gary, I hope you can take some good pics of each one before it goes out. I know these will be works of art.

Did they ship/not ship?   Where are we on this?  Gary I'm out of town next week and my greatest fear is that it will be at my house with no one to receive it.  Could you imagine them just leaving it at the front door for four days.

I spoke to Gary on Friday and he thought mine would ship on Monday (UPS) and I might have it as soon as Wednesday.

If mine ends up sitting on my front porch while I'm out of town I'm gonna lose it!

If you haven't found it, there is another thread on this topic.  Apparently all preamps are finished and are in the process of being shipped! Hurray :rotflmao: :hyper:

Now that I have my pre-amp in, I wanted to come back to this thread and look at the face plates on page 9 again.  I think the listing of Granadillo and Rosewood are switched because mine looks like the one on the bottom.  I have Granadillo.  When I first got mine I was really surprised at how much grain was in the actual wood.  First off the photo does no justice to what it really looks like.  The finish is spectacular.  I almost looks fake it's so shiny.  Tremendous amount of contrast in the grain.  Way more than the photo suggests.  Heavy is an understatement for this preamp.  That surprised me as well.  A real tank behind that beautiful exterior.

Why no comments on the sound you ask?  Because Gary is also making me 50 watt mono's that are not ready yet.  He's run into a small problem with something that he's trying to resolve right now and he is making a small mod to my integrated amp so I can use it as my power amp until he get's the mono's to me.  I can't wait to audition this baby.  I'm also building cabinets for Danny's OB5's.  Hey Danny,  Have you officially named these bad boys yet?  Anyway I cut out the front baffles with no problem thanks to my trusty Jasper Jig.  So far so good.  I'll keep you posted.
