For a fancy set up, I like milspec hookup wire - the 8ga stuff with silver coated strands, available for about 1.60$/ft (Caveat: you need 2 runs of it for a speaker! so it's not the cheap way to go). The silver probably doesn't reduce resistance significantly (and with 8ga wire, it wouldn't matter much if it did), but silver's nice for making bare wire connections, because oxidation isn't so much of a concern. Caveat: it's stiff, but it's very sturdy.
Belden 5T00UP is only 0.57/ft, you only need one cable per speaker, and I doubt any one, no matter how golden ear'd, could pick it out from any other decently clean copper or silver pathway, no matter how exotic, in an A/B/X test. Large hungry speakers might want something heavier gauge. But at that price, it's worth getting some and seeing if it will do.
Jumper cable (yeah, the stuff they make car battery jumper kits out of) makes an interesting statement, if your speaker can handle fat wire. It's hard to argue that any speaker in any rig is going to demand more current than that can deliver. 6ga is ~ 1$/ft - again, you need 2. You can get fatter versions, but check your connectors first.
