I have both an X-Voce and a pair of X-Statics based on the original AV123s, both with hands-on upgrades by the Skiing Ninja himself.   I'd be real curious what could be upgraded beyond this.   I've had them running for almost three years now in my home theater setup, and they are still going strong and sound fantastic.   

Sometimes being content can be a real challenge, but it's a Blessing when you find it.  If you're happy, I'd suggest being careful about allowing other's opinions to cause you to redefine your measure of YOUR happiness.  There's always gonna be some other rabbit to chase, if distracted by it.

Well, I'm a computer engineer and a performance automotive enthusiast aside from being a cinephile and fledgling audiophile.  "Content" is not even in my vocabulary.   I'm always tweaking stuff.  I just got done upgrading two gaming PCs and ordered new modern headlights and infotainment system for my Corvette.  It's just my nature as an engineer to constantly have things in flux.   But I do appreciate your insight.

The latest tweak overlaps the lower drivers a little more and increases mid-bass output that was being affected by the floor reflection.

You will still have the reflection as carpet isn't thick enough to be effective at damping frequencies in the mid-bass region.

Floor reflection frequency is dependent on speaker height, listening distance and height.

Vince, if you peek at the info about my Wilson Audio Duette, you'll see mention of the foam / circular cutout on the front baffle and the commentary about the raised circle causing a bit of ripple in the upper response.  I have not played with making that transition different, yet.  I have no idea if the felt you have around your tweeters and the "circle" is causing a similar issue on yours.  Just thought I'd share in case it's of interest / helpful.

So, as i posted earlier, floor bounce frequency is dependent on various distances.  I have an average sort of family room for my home theater.  The center speaker is just under my flat screen and I sit on a leather couch about 10 feet away. Let's plug these distances into the floor bounce calculator and see what we get...




So for my listening situation, would expect a primary null just under 400 Hz. If you sit further away, the null goes up in frequency further.

Anyone else have a much different listening arrangement?

Noted.  I'll check it out.   Although there is carpet, rug, thick carpet pad, and 1/8" thick vibration dampening rubber mat under there.

Are you talking about mine?   13 speakers and four subs (7.4.6 ATMOS), two of which are the Double Troubles and two sealed subs - one at the front and one at the back.  Four of the surrounds are GR X-On Walls.  Probably overkill for a 15' x 20' room, but ATMOS movies like Dune, Ready Player One, Blade Runner 2049 are incredibly immersive.  I'm watching The Pacific on Netflix right now (it was on HBO), and the action scenes with gun fire and explosions are unbelievable.

Of course, high definition stereo music sounds pretty good, too.

It's a 9' ceiling, and I used the free 3D design tool at Audio Advice to rough it in and determine the best screen size and viewing distance for maximum immersion.  I have two rows of seats.  You can see the X-On Walls in this photo.  For overhead speaker placement, the best resource is Dolby themselves:  https://www.dolby.com/about/support/guide/speaker-setup-guides/
