Perhaps "worthless" was a bit strong....How about "devoid of credibility"??
I believe I speak for more than a few unhappy P-1 purchasers who bought on the promises and hype and have seen nothing but talk, excuses, delays, and more talk. The product was marketed on its ability to do all sorts of DSP, and then it turns out that it is 99% vaporware. The original price of the product was justified on the basis that soon, very soon, room correction and speaker correction would transform the listening experience, and everyone that bought into the P-1 paradigm would be, any minute now, any day now, soon, just a little longer...able to participate, via their P-1, in this revolutionary new audio experience..."Gee, it's kind of expensive, isn't it? Come on! This thing will do room correction, speaker correction, upsample, it's a steal!" Yeah, right....
Now, look at the record..While I could easily fill this space with an endless list of direct quotes from Mr. Schifter regarding the imminent releases of the room and speaker correction software for his P-1 product, I have wasted enough of my time already over this issue...just believe me when I tell you he has gone on the record so many times with his promises that anything he says about this product, and by association, any other product, that I refuse to believe it until it is actually shipping with all its components included. I would never buy anything from him or anyone associated with him again, based on a promise.
Do I feel ripped off? Damn right. And I bet there are many others who feel the same way. Burn me once, shame on me...
