werd what is unreasonable inflation to you?
For example I can't make power conditioners and sell them at a price to sustain a business for less than $1000, at the level of refinement I like to make. I can however out-source to china for making something that's good, but not a high level of refinement.
There's a lot of challenges to introducing a product, like do you out-source manufacturing of all the chassis parts or buy equipment to make it yourself? Do you have wage-slave build it (including yourself)?
I don't know what the tubes in the Shunyata cost, so I can't comment if they're exceeding what's consider typical and fair markup.
Personally I think it's screwed up that people can afford audio gear that's very nice. (I think it's a thousand fold offensive people can't afford clothing made by their neighbor, or wood products) Now I'm not saying it should be free, but it's often out of the realm of buying power even if a person works hard to land a good job, saves money, and makes it a priority! This is EXACTLY why I am interested in doing what Pass does, and that's offering DIY projects that WILL get you high end sound - because you're only parts - but selling commercial offerings for those that have made the money and want them.
What's a DIY conditioner look like?
