The 1:23 mark on the vid says it all. Basically saying all the solutions available in the market for noise Shunyata is the only one!. Total shill or coached statement. Which one is it?

werd, you clearly weren't paying attention, it's the only one with a scientific basis. All the others are voodoo, hit or miss.

We all know marketing and advertising is to gain interest.  That said we try the product. Some will lie the affect wrought others will not. for me if any manf. offers a 30 day trial and money back guarantee I'm game to try.
Trying is the key word here. I could care less about the claims, measurements, etc. The key for me personally is what affect does said component have when inserted in my system. Is it better ? Worse ? or just different.
Wether the end result is perceived or actual what does it matter as long as YOU are pleased with the result.  Heck Shunyata has us talking about its product.
For me no money back guarantee no sale that simple.

The problem I have with this is not with the product it self. I am sure the Hydra works fine. (I use to outfit my gear with Python power cables). The problem is their business model used to elevate the high cost of these products. They create an environment of mystique designed to support the inflated cost of their gear. I do not like that. No one should be paying more than a grand for a passive device like this. If they didn't resort to this business model than i'd be fine with it. The Uberbuss is more in-line cost wise.

That's reasonable, werd.
The thing is, inflating prices (through marketing) is the best way for many high end audio gear manfacturers to survive, if not grow, these days. The US middle class has lost economic footing over the last decade, while high income households grow and thrive. And let's not understate the importance of those high income households buying expensive gear. It's important for the economy and for our hobby at large. Understandably, Shunyata may not be marketing to many of us here on AC, but that's OK. Most of us will seek out less expensive and perhaps higher performing gear anyway. But Shunyata showing that power conditioning / filtering can have very good effect (when done correctly) is a good thing overall, whether you buy their marketing or someone else's. :thumb:

werd what is unreasonable inflation to you?

For example I can't make power conditioners and sell them at a price to sustain a business for less than $1000, at the level of refinement I like to make. I can however out-source to china for making something that's good, but not a high level of refinement.

There's a lot of challenges to introducing a product, like do you out-source manufacturing of all the chassis parts or buy equipment to make it yourself? Do you have wage-slave build it (including yourself)?

I don't know what the tubes in the Shunyata cost, so I can't comment if they're exceeding what's consider typical and fair markup.

Personally I think it's screwed up that people can afford audio gear that's very nice. (I think it's a thousand fold offensive people can't afford clothing made by their neighbor, or wood products) Now I'm not saying it should be free, but it's often out of the realm of buying power even if a person works hard to land a good job, saves money, and makes it a priority! This is EXACTLY why I am interested in doing what Pass does, and that's offering DIY projects that WILL get you high end sound - because you're only parts - but selling commercial offerings for those that have made the money and want them.

What's a DIY conditioner look like?

"Unreasonable inflation"  is the cost to buy an empty box with some wires attached to a few outlets and tubes. While using mystique sales pitches to support the product price.

I was hoping for a relation to cost to produce.
