I have a lovely pair of Cirrus at home and I absolutely LOVE them, I have heard some new systems that incorporated stereo subwoofers crossed at 40-50 hz to work with ported speakers with good lower octaves like the Cirrus but just missing that lowest Octave or two for the world class bass. I have recently set up a new listening room that is sufficiently sized to not be overloaded by a good subwoofer 20x30 with 7 foot ceilings. any recommendations for a good sub to cover 20-60Hz at most with musicality, texture, and resolution to match the Cirrus Black?I have been looking at some of REL's offerings but to really perform well in that super low range my outlay would be as much as my speakers. Ryan do you have anything planned? Anyone have any recommendations? My HSU just does not blend well. Should I DIY? What are some good drivers?

(HT frequencies? Pipe Organ?)Budget?Different subs have different ways of reaching different goals. If you can get away with it, get multiple subs and a controller that gives flexibility with regard to output, phase, individual control, and room correction as an option. Don't forget room treatments.I have a JB Audio Fathom myself, but also love the bass from the Dual 12" OB's on my Super V's, so if you can swing it (DIY) you might want to look at the GR Research dual/triple H-frame 12". Very musical yet hit with authority when needed and have fewer room interface issues. The Servo Amps give you a lot of control flexibility as well.
I prefer the sound of two subs when blending with a stereo image, maybe it is psychoacoustic but I always get too much bloated single point sounding bass from one sub.My Pre Pro will have to change as well with the addition of a subwoofer or two and I will take into account bass management (any suggestions here?)Size is no issue, this is a dedicated listening room.I hope to achieve a full 20hz-20khz experience and for 2 channel musically throughout. I feel reinforcing the lowest end of the bass would yield a better performance in stereo music listening, more space, impat, and dynamics.Budget is up in the air right now, this is a long term project likely and not something I need to solve immediately, with the Cirrus in a properly treated room as it stands I have the best soundstage I have ever heard, so I am really just tinkering. I would love to hear the Rythmik (Gr research) servo subs in home, the price is great and from what I have read and heard they are spectacular.I will have to talk to Ryan first, see if he can offer some sort of solution. A Modular Joule, with ported upper section? I like the idea of being able to place stereo subs independently of the treble midrange, it is unlikely the best place for the bass transducers will be the same as the mid tweeters.
Definitely see if you can get a listen to the GR OB's if you can get a chance. Have all of the qualities I like. Fast, deep, easy to adjust, weight when you need it yet unobtrusive when they are not called for. They also have been much more easily placed into a room w/o major issues than the box subs I've used (JL Audio, MFW-15 Turbo, and Velodyne).
I am going to order a pair of F12SE's to mate with my Nola KO's after the first of the year. A little over $1900 for the pair with shipping.
Don't hesitate to ask Ryan what he could do a sub or pair of subs for. I listened to a pair of subs he made that were really nice and integrated seamlessly with a pair of Sundogs he had set up in his upstairs listening room.You could rest assured that they would be the perfect compliment to the Cirrus. I think that's one of them in the background of my signature pic.
