I'm curious to see the measurements as well. What are the physical dimensions of the speaker, specifically, how high is the tweeter?

I hope to have all of the information on the website by the end of this weekend. The dimensions and layout will be a little different than the pictured speaker. My customer adjusted his cabinet dimensions and layout for his needs. The production cabinets will be 14" at the bottom tapering to 7-8" at the top. The height (minus spikes) is 40" and depth will be 14".

Are these set up so that one (meaning me) can take a listen? I havn't heard any of your floor standing models nor an Accuton or RAAL driver.

Rick an acquaintance has recently purchased a nice big three way.
(it sounds & looks nice...not an AC member or Mfg. associated with AC.)

and he states that the XO design resistively shunts amplifier current around the driver.

"This gives the amplifier a less reactive, lower impedance load. It also
gives the crossover network a less reactive, lower impedance load.
Finally it provides the driver with a less reactive, lower impedance
source."...indeed his hovers around 3.0-5.5 ohms.

The Ottavo likewise has some low impedance swings.

Is this a reasonable approach?

Yes - I don't believe anything else can touch it at the introductory price as well as much more than that.

I could easily swap in the Scan-Speak mid and they would be very similar except higher sensitivity with the Ottavo.

There's really not much information available on amp interaction with phase angles / impedance and the audible results. There is a device that can test that but you don't hear about it very often. Obviously tube amps with higher output impedances aren't a good match for lower impedance speakers and / or wide impedance variations. I have tested the Ottavo with very modest solid state amps and had great results.

No pictures but very similar in size to the Galena that I designed a few years back (same shape as the speaker pictured). For kit builders there also is a standard rectangular cabinet option and we can also build that as well if someone has a preference for a conventional shape.
