The McIntosh C220 has a Power Control - MAIN trigger jack (the ACC jack would also work) that accepts a 1/8" stereo mini phone plug.  The McIntosh branded cable has a stereo plug, but I think it may only have 2 conductors.  Either way, using the McIntosh cable or a generic 1/8" stereo phone plug cable will require cutting the plug off of one end to use with the Bryston trigger connection which uses a terminal block plug.

If you use a generic stereo 1/8" phone plug cable it would be a 3-conductor cable (2 insulated conductors + ground shield conductor).  You would use the ground shield conductor and the insulated conductor that is attached to the tip of the plug (the center position on the plug is not used).

Connect those two wires to the 2 IN terminals on the Bryston connector plug and set the External Turn-on trigger switch to EXTERNAL.

Hi Steve....Thanks for the explanation. I was trying to find out what to do with the other end of this since the other end is connected behind a Mc pre. I guess it's too much to ask to have a standardized system like a RCA/XLR connector etc. etc.

since the back of the Bryston 4B doesn't have a connection for it. I think I'll wait for turnovertherecord to implement this connection first.

As far as I'm aware, Bryston is the only audio manufacture that doesn't use the typical mini-jack for the 12V trigger on all products.    It would be swell if Bryston would standardize on one type, preferably the mini-jack,  and having both input and output 12V triggers on all products include preamps.   and.. RS-232, and IR input jacks... as needed.  Oh, and don't share power on/off IR codes between products ....

Some children can be taught to turn audio components on and off with positive reenforcement.  However if you are not currently using your wife or girlfriend as a bass trap in one of the corners perhaps she could help with the turn on and off sequence.   Although the work around described earlier might cause you less problems in your marriage.

Yes, the 1/8" / 3.5mm phone jack is pretty much the standard and you have to look far and wide to find any deviation.  I've seen them on some old Parasound components, but the only other manufacturer presently using terminal blocks that I've seen is Lexicon, and it's a mishmosh, with some components using phone jacks and others terminal blocks.

Bryston has had a manufacturing relationship with Lexicon in the past, so .....

Hope you don`t mind I use your topic for this question: it`s not possible to trigger the 4b with a bp6, isn`t it?

The BP6 doesn't have a 12V trigger output, but you could use something like the Emotiva ET-3  with it's on/off switch on the back to control a power condition or power strip that has a 12V trigger input.    This would turn on the BP6 as well as anything else you wanted, but there's no built in delay.  I try to have the amp turn on last to avoid any unwanted pops when the source turns on.

So after a couple of days of the tube sound is what I have been looking for

So the setup I have now will stay, the sound IMHO is the best I have had in my home,as all of our systems will always change until we find what we are looking for,I have found what I was looking for

Bryston 4BBST2

McIntosh C220

Clearaudio concept and Nagaoka cartridge

Focus Audio FS-788

No digital   yet

Now I know what tube guys mean,tubes are great :D :D :D

I think that's kinda subjective, spinner. Between personal taste and the fact that not all tube preamps sound the same, it's tough to give any kind of definitive answer. I know why I like using my tube pre with my Brystons, but I think the best way for you to answer that question for yourself might be to get your hands on a tube pre if you can and see what you think. You may not think it's so great at all.

Or you may come over to the dark side..... :icon_twisted:

This seems to tell me that the 4B sq can maintain the tube sound from your preamp . That's great, I  may try this ...thanks

Can you roll tubes in the Mac preamp.

You can roll (and replace if necessary) tubes in most any preamp ..... except for the Vincents with soldered-in mini tubes.

That confounds me.
