You've exceeded budget! Now 40 of them...
Sorry AJ, I was talking about my system. For the OP, I would recommend 10/$100 subs or 100/$10 subs. Also, I put a bass-shaker in each pocket (just the front two) and find that it really helps my perception of the low end, although I can only listen to bass-heavy music for ten or twenty seconds, max, without causing perminant damage.
Jackman, could I get a link to your $10 sub? Also would consider the $25 ones, although I'm not sure if you really get 2.5x the sub for your money...
I am still not buying it.
A $250 sub still will have muddy, boomy bass with more distortion than a $500-$1000 sub
I am still not buying it. A $250 sub still will have muddy, boomy bass with more distortion than a $500-$1000 sub, I don't care how well you equalize them. They would be fine for HT but not high end 2ch audio, especially with planar or electrostat speakers. I would rather have 2 $500 subs.I have a Velodyne CHT-8 sub (sold for $350 years ago) which was a nice sub for HT, but it sounded lousy with my Magnepan MMG's and I crossed it over at 50hz so I wasn't asking it to do too much. I have a Martin Logan sub that integrates well with my Magnepan 1.6's and gives musical, tight and fast bass.
Just got off the phone with Chad from Epik. He isn't going anywhere and seems to have some new stuff in the works.
He used the words "high end" when describing the new stuff. I love the "cheap" drivers in the Legend though. Phenomenal sound. His musician's ear is to be trusted.
Opening the windows and a can of Frebreeze can result in less room funkiness, too.
Was Chad from Epik able to fix your sub?
He's shipping me another amp. But since there won't be any more new ones I gotta look at what I can do next since I want to add more subs in the future.
