Wow.  That is truly a shame.  Alvin Lee was one of the true pioneers of the British blues scene.  Their first album, simply entitled "Ten Years After", reamins a staple for collectors of British blues.

David beat me to it!   I guess he's no longer "Coming Home", he's now already "there" !!!    :-)

I always liked Alvin Lee.  I read a pretty good interview with him recently, which was interesting but don't remember which publication.

R.I.P. Mr. Lee

Yes, a great guitarist. I saw him doing the iconic "Going Home" at Woodstock. The whole set was amazing. And TYA versions of "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl" are still my favorite, even after hearing earlier bluesmen perform it.

Sad he died untimely.

RIP

It's the bluest blues
And it cuts me like a knife
It's the bluest blues
Since you walked out of my life

Rest in peace, Alvin.

Ah, crap.
Alvin was one of my all time favorite guitarists - that guy could play a 335 like nobody else.
A very modest fellow judging by the interviews I've read.
RIP, Mr. Lee.

Ah Crap is right.
This is a let down. As it is obviously when anyone that we care about for whatever reason passes.
Alvin was named for many years as the worlds fastest guitarist. I don't know about that, but he was fast and furious and at times sweet and subtle.

I remember winning tickets from WHFS Radio (local DC/MD)  front row to see Ten Years after at The Warner Theater in Washington D.C. and
Alvin was playing that big ass red guitar with the decals and he threw a pick out to the crowd and it hit me straight in the eye.

My eye was already red for another reason and I didn't care and it was an insane show and it was about 1971.
And I hope now that he has passed, I hope He is Going Home by Helicopter.

Modify-- And I am sure in his way, he did Change the World.

Jim Ladd and his wife are doing a nice tribute on Sirius XM Deep Tracks.  Heard some of it driving home just now.

Alvin was one of those who broke the mold.  A great guy, humble and honest rock star!  And arguably top five in his craft, ever.

Yes....another classic rocker gone...joining Ronnie Montrose and Gary Moore...some great players who died too soon.

Mine too....played many of those early TYA tunes in a cover band...and enjoyed their early "jazzy rock" albums as well.

Here's their "Woodchopper's Ball" (Woody Herman) as an example....

Wow, I first dropped acid while listening to Cricklewood Green on 8 track cruising in my beat up '58 Corvette many moons ago. At the time I thought it was the greatest album ever. R.I.P. Alvin Lee ... thanks for the memories.

Sad News. Is saw Ten Years After a couple of times. Good shows. I remember the one at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland Oregon. The weather was cold and cloudy. When we came out the ground was covered with snow. A freak snow storm. The roads were a mess but the driver had lived in Montana and easily navigated us home. RIP Alvin. Thanks for the music.
